Recent news of extremely large babies being born sparked my interest. Many babies are overgrown and weigh 3X the normal weight. The reoccurring cause is diabetes.

1. Fedele Baby:
Carmelina Fedele gave birth to a son in Italy in 1955. The son weighed in at 22 pounds and 8 ounces.
2. Anna Haining Bates’ Son:
The boy was the largest baby to ever be recorded. He weighed 23.12 pounds at birth. The labour took place for 36 hours. The head was too big and would not come out. The baby died within 11 hours. Bates’ gave birth to a still born before that.
3. JaMichael Brown:
Janet Johnson of Longview, Texas gave birth to a baby boy in July of 2011. The boy weighed 16 pounds and 1 ounce at birth. She did not make it onto Guinness Records and neither did her son, because another record was already set.
4. Chun Chun:
Chun Chun was born in February of 2012 in central China. When born, she weighed 15.52 lbs. The delivery was done through a caesarean section and took 20 minutes to complete. Both mom and baby are doing well.
5. Asher Stewardson:
After 6 hours of labour without an epidermal injection and surgery, Asher Stewardson was born on January 26, 2012. He weighed 13 pounds and 3 ounces.
6. Jakarta, Indonesia:
A mother in Jakarta Indonesia mother gave birth to a baby boy recently. The boy weighed in at 19 lbs and was 2 feet tall. The mother is diabetic and was receiving treatment. Too much glucose from diabeties is cited for this abnormality.
7. Judah Stewardson:
Judah was born 15 months prior to Asher to the same parents. He weighed a bit less, coming in at 12 pounds and 1 ounce. It seems to run in the family.
8. Anna Haining Bates:
This Canadian from Mill Brook, New Anan was famous for her height. She was 7’5.5’’ at her peak. At birth she weighed 18 pounds (approximately). Anna excelled in literature and music and was quite intelligent.
9. Jihad:
In November of 2011, a 13 lbs. boy was born in Berlin. His mother was 40 years old at the time and suffers from diabetes and digestion problems. He joins 13 other children, 4 of them were born over 5 lbs.
10. Libby:
This girl was born in England in March of 2011. She weighed 12 lbs. and 8 oz. at birth. She joins her 3 older brothers. The labour was short and natural.
