These days there’s a new diet every week, and it’s easy to find their impressive offerings alluring. People, and not just celebrities, are sick of their old habits and being overweight, and they’re looking for something new to do with their life, according to dietitian Jessica Crandall, a spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association (ADA).
Embarking on a bad diet can make you pay a price beyond transitory results. Some diets can cause a range of side effects, from bad breath and frequent urination, to fatigue and slowed metabolism.
This list focuses on 10 celebrities who’ve tried dieting and losing weight and have failed.
1. Keira Knightley:
Keira Knightley’s rake-thin figure has frequently made headlines, with some disparaging the actress for being too skinny and boyish. The actress was recently also worrying her fans about her body size after rumours began to circulate that she was expecting.
Keira, along with her friends and family, insists that her slim physique is a result of good genes and a speedy metabolism, all inherited from her father, theater actor Will Knightley.
2. Tori Spelling:
Tori Spelling’s weight loss brought her into the spotlight in 2009 during her appearance on 90210. She sported a new bony profile in a kimono dress. Spelling credited stress to her dramatic weight loss. Her health worsened in 2010 because of the stressful relationship with her estranged mother, Candy Spelling, and also because of her liquid diet after the birth of her second child in 2008.
3. Lindsay Lohan:
Legal issues are not her only problems. Her skinny and curvy figure are also the source for worry. The singer and actress admitted recently to having an eating disorder and that she is in rehab. We hope she realizes that enough is enough and that she should stop ruining her life.
4. Christina Ricci:
We enjoyed watching Christina in Sleepy Hollow and Casper. But recent pictures of her popped up. The actress has gone awry, she no longer looks healthy and beautiful. Whatever happened to the woman with the perfect weight and the perfect everything?
5. Claire Danes:
Claire Danes is an iconic Hollywood actress. She is well known for her role in “My So-Called Life.” Unlike most child star actresses, Claire Danes has succeeded in avoiding controversies. Danes has also managed to avoid the weight fluctuations that seem to infect her to the point of starvation.
Despite her before well-balanced diet, Danes has admitted to using food as an emotional crutch. When she was a student at Yale, she would treat herself to large meals at restaurants to help herself cope with the pressure and anxiety of exams. It doesn’t appear that her waistline suffered from this, but emotional eating is often a precursor to weight gain. In 2012, pictures surfaced of Danes in a bikini with a total weight loss.
