Today computer systems are found everywhere. Computers have become almost as common as televisions. But what is computer? A computer is a system made of two major components: hardware and software. The computer hardware is a physical equipment. The software is the collection of programs(instructions)that allow the hardware to do its job. Knowing the basic concept of a computer we can proceed understanding the rest.
Tweak means to make minor adjustments in an electronic system or in a software program in order to improve performance. Here, we apply this minor adjustment to a computer with windows operating system to make it work faster. In this busy world no one has patience to wait sitting hours in front of the computer for one small work just because your computer is slow. It’s time to get rid of your worries now!
Here are few simple ways that makes your windows computer work faster and thus saves your precious time.
1. Use anti malware and antivirus.
The first thing to do as soon as you get your computer home is to install the antivirus. Initially your computer might be working really fast and good but as days go by and as usage increases, it starts getting slower and less efficient. This is due to the virus attack on your computer. This slows down your computer speed and damages many of your files. Keep your antivirus up to date. Regularly switch the scan on that scans your complete files and folders. This is the best way to keep your computer in best working condition.
These are the few tweaks that help to increase the speed of your windows computer. Enjoy working and don’t give a chance to complain that your computer is slow next time!
2. Setting in the task manager.
Setting priority to real time is not recommended. Yes, it is better than the high priority. these settings adjust the processing power that your processor will spend on a particular application. Just leave the settings to default.
The only application that is set above normal is the windows task manager(taskmgr.exe). This is set above normal so that when your pc is lagging while you are using another application, you just press ctrl-alt-delete and your processor will try to concentrate on task manager and try to open it quickly so that you can quit the program causing the lag.
3. Run disk clean up frequently.
You can choose to delete some or all of the files. Use Disk Cleanup to perform any of the following tasks to free up space on your hard disk like removing temporary Internet files, removing downloaded program files( For example, ActiveX controls and Java applets that are downloaded from the Internet), empty the Recycle Bin, remove Windows temporary files, remove optional Windows components that you are not using, remove installed programs that you no longer use. All these work well in increasing your windows PC speed.
4. Manage applications.
It is one common complaint that many of our computers take a lot of time to start up. To overcome this it is necessary to manage all the applications which has to be run at the start up. Do not shut the computer off abruptly because it can cause damage to many of its programs. Close all the tabs and applications neatly. These are to precautions to be taken to prevent problems when you switch the computer on the next time. It makes your PC more efficient and fit. Never let your application stop midway. Virtually all applications you install using the default installation these days decide that they should start-up when Windows starts. If you allow these to take control, you can end up with a situation where (unless you have sufficient memory installed) every other program slows down to be unusable. Give your computer the proper start and end.
5. Delete temporary files.
You may not realize it, but every time you visit web sites your computer keeps track of cookies, temporary and history files which can cause some slow down in performance. These files stay in your cache and can hog up a lot of resources if there are a lot of these files in there. All of these files have a purpose, but deleting them will not harm your computer at all. As a result all of these files add up and require large amounts of disk space which can affect computer performance greatly. By eliminating these annoying programs from your hard drive you will notice that your system will run a lot smoother and faster.
