Here are 10 important women in Ancient Greece & Rome who had influential and memorable roles.

2. Cleopatra VII:

She was the last pharaoh in Egypt. She was a Greek and part of the Ptolemaic Dynasty who ruled Egypt after the death of Alexander the Great. She is quite popular today in art and literature, especially in Shakespearean literature.

Top 10 Infamous Female Nazis

1 2

Female Nazis were generally low to middle class and had no work experience. Volunteers were enlisted by ads in German newspapers which asked for women to show their love for the Reich and join the SS-Gefolge. They held positional titles similar to the male SS ranks; essentially equal. The roles were specific, as per Hitler’s orders. Other women supported their husbands who were commanders and cabinet ministers in their anti-Semitic policies. Here are the top 10 heinous female Nazis.

1. Maria Mandel:

Nick Name: The Beast

Job: She was a Nazi official who worked inside Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp and Dachau concentration camp. She was the highest ranking a woman in a camp could receive. She only answered to the commandant. Her job was to control all female prisoners and all female assistants.

Crimes: She was directly responsible for some 500,000 women dying. Many witnesses remembered her standing at the gates of Auschwitz-Birkenau waiting for inmates to look at her. She single handenly picked those who looked at her for immediate extermination. For all her crimes she had committed, Mandel was caught, tried and hanged on January 24, 1946.

Mala Zimetbaum Case: When Mala Zimetbaum was caught escaping the camp grounds, Mandel read an order to burn her alive in the crematorium.

2. Herta Oberheuser:

Job: Physician at the Ravensbrück concentration camp.

Crimes: Anyone who lets children die a slow death deserves to be on top of this list. Oberheuser injected healthy children with oil and watched them die a slow and painful death. When dead she was known to remove their limbs and vital organs. 74 of her victims were Polish political prisoners and 86 were women. If that was not enough, she rubbed foreign objects on wounds. This sadistic and so called physician/assistant got a slap on the wrist for assisting in the medical experiments.

Life after World War II: Oddly enough, she tried to practice medicine after being released from prison in 1951 for good behavior. Thank goodness her license was revoked. Assistant or no assistant, her silence and privy to gruesome murders deserve to be listed on here.

3. Irma Grese:

Nickname: The Beautiful Beast OR Bitch of Belsen

Job: She was employed at Ravensbrück and Auschwitz and was a warden in the women section at Bergen-Belsen concentration camp.

Crimes: She beat many of her victims with a whip before shooting them. Furthermore she let her unfed dogs loose on many prisoners at Bergen Belsen. According to witnesses, she was sadistic and took sexual pleasure out of killing people in cold blood. Individually one by one, she and other culpable women were hanged on December 13, 1945. She had no remorse for her crimes until her last dying breath.

Personal Recount: When asked if she carried a whip, Irma Grese answered the following:

“Yes, made out of cellophane in the weaving factory in the camp. It was a very light whip, but if I hit somebody with it, it would hurt. After eight days Kommandant Kramer prohibited whips, but we nevertheless went on using them, I never carried a rubber truncheon.”

4. Ilse Koch:

Nick Name: Bitch of Buchenwald

Job: Married to the Commander of Buchenwald Camp, gave her class. She was sadistic and enjoyed watching others in pain.

Crimes: She ordered lampshades to be made from the skins of tattooed prisoners. She was imprisoned in 1944 and released due to lack of evidence in 1947. She was rearrested in 1949 where she was sentenced to life in prison. She committed suicide in 1967.

5. Juana Bormann:

Nick Name: Wiesel

Job: Female Attendant and prison guard at several concentration camps during World War II. Coming from a lower income family, she joined the SS to earn more money. In 1939 she oversaw the working women at Ravensbrück concentration camp. She also worked at Auschwitz-Birkenau, Bergen-Belsen and Hindenburg as a prison guard.

Crimes: She was an evil woman who enjoyed watching prisoners and helpless victims die a slow and painful death. Witnesses recount how she unleashes her German Sheppard dogs and brutally murdered innocent people, who were all Jewish. She was tried and hanged on December 13, 1945 along with her infamous female co-worker Irma Grese.

Top 10 Mistresses

1 2

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Tiger Woods were recently exposed for their infidelity or shall I say infidelities. This article would be boring if Schwarzenegger and Woods’ mistresses occupied the top 2 spots. There are other more significant mistresses than the ones the 2 celebrities, mentioned above, slept with.

Interestingly enough..some mistresses of celebrities and politicians ended up an engagement ring on their left hand and if far enough a wedding band ring as well. Since the beginning of time, mistresses have been around. Whether they were classified as a concubine or courtesan, mistresses are surely bound to be a part of mankind until the very end. Here is a list of the most infamous celebrity political mistress that made this top 10 list.

It should also be noted that most of these mistresses did not succeed in breaking up marriages and couples remained married after the truth surfaced. Bill and Hillary Clinton are still married and so were John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy.

1. Catherine the Great:

Surprise! Surprise! Yes, the Russian Empress was a mistress of many men during and before her reign. When her husband Peter the Great did not love her and cheated on her, she went on to find a man who would impregnate her. When she dethroned and murdered her husband, she continued to utilize men for her own purposes. She thus tops the list of top 10 mistresses because no one ever thought she would ever cheat.

2. Ashley Dupré:

I am sure everyone knows that Democratic New York Governor Elliot Spitzer cheated on his pregnant wife with a prostitute. Many do not know much about who this prostitute is. The name is Ashley Dupré and she was 23 when the exposé took place. The same prostitute works as a sex columnist at the New York Post and is a singer.

3. Soon-Yi Previn:

Woody Allen may be famous for his movies and musical abilities, but many fail to realize who his current wife (former mistress) really is. She is the daughter of Mia Farrow, Woody Allen’s common law wife (since they dated for 12 years). Previn and Allen married in 1997 and were dating right after the break-up between Allen and Farrow. She was 22 and he was 56 at the time of marriage. I guess it’s not taboo anymore to swim in the kiddie pool (Allen was Previn’s adoptive step-father).

4. Alina Kabaeva:

Vladimir Putin, the former President of Russia and the current Prime Minister has been naughty. Oh yes, it is alleged that he has slept with and cheated on his wife with Kabeava, the 28 year old Olympic gymnast. There are also speculations that they got married in a secret ceremony in 2009 and that he fathered a son with her. Russians are known for secrecy and cover-ups, so this affair is quite possible. I’ll let you decide the guilt.

5. Anne Lundquist:

All mistresses in the United States should check their state laws twice before they think of jumping into bed with a married man. 6 states, including North Carolina, have an active Alienation of Affection statute. Cynthia Shackleford sued the mistress (Lundquist) of her husband (Allan Shackleford) for purposely pursuing her husband and denting her marriage. Lundquist was ordered to pay $9 million in compensatory and punitive damages. The Shackleford’s divorced in 2005. Allan Shackleford pays $5000/month for allimony.

Top 10 Common Lies Women Tell

1 2

Although men are good at lies, women are no different. In some categories they top and master the knack of lying, better than men. Many men should be skillful at reading between lines and reading body language when here the following 10 phrases (clear throat: lies) women say (clear throat: tell).

1. I am not mad at you:

Sometimes, a man can say something that will make a woman want to pull out her hair and scream. But women don’t tell their significant others they are mad at them at that particular moment. They wait for the right moment to do so; when the subject comes up another time, for instance. When women want to avoid telling what is wrong, they simply say “I am not mad at you.” This phrase also comes up when women feel ashamed to be around their men. They don’t want to be seen in public together, and when men try to kiss or hug them, women pull out of the public affection.

2. Sex:

Women have a skill for hiding and concealing what they don’t like when it comes to sex. Men need to rely on body language and the tone of a woman’s voice after the occurrence to understand the woman’s emotions. When women say they enjoyed sex, they usually mean the opposite. Unlike with men, there is no physical evidence that shows they were happy or not happy, unless she is agitated and throwing you out of the house.

3. Just A Minute:

How many men have heard this before? 1 minute is never enough for a woman to get ready. Try timing her to see whether she is able to meet you and be ready in one minute. It’s a lie women use very often to stipulate that they need more time. Men should not keep bother women when they keep saying one minute. It could turn into a blow-up which men do not want.

4. I Love You (Too):

We never know when the right time is to say “I love you”. One can feel love towards a significant other, but once you say these 3 simple words, the relationship changes forever. A man can say “I love you” simply for the sake of having sex, if he is a jerk of course, or because he sincerely feels these feelings. When a man says “I love you” and the woman is freaked out, a woman may say it back sincerely, or she may get sensitive and emotional. She does not want to have an argument, so she says “thank you”, or jokingly says, “I don’t love you”.

5. This is my phone number:

Women will never admit to men they are not interested. Instead, they will give them a fake phone number. Women cannot stare at the men’s faces when they reject the men. Therefore, women take the easy way out and give out the wrong number. Men will eventually get the point that the woman he asked for the phone number is not interested.

Top 10 History’s Most Scandalous Women

1 2

In 2010, you know you’re a scandalous woman if you have retained Gloria Allred as your attorney—not because you really have done anything terribly wrong, of course, but to protect your reputation and preserve your rights for telling your own story. Allred and her clients clearly have learned the most valuable lesson from all of history’s most scandalous women: The quality of the story trumps the historical facts like a full house beats a pair of deuces, and a woman serves her own best interests by telling her own story in her own way. History further demonstrates that a woman’s well-managed scandal can evolve into a tremendously successful career. Ten prominent examples make the case.

1. Cleopatra VII

Arguably history’s first political powerhouse woman: Generally known simply as “Cleopatra”—as in the Cleopatra, star of story, legend, and drama—the Egyptian queen departed from her fiercely Greek Ptolemaic predecessors, learning the Egyptian language and declaring herself a reincarnation of the goddess Isis. After Roman conspirators assassinated Caesar in 44BC, Cleopatra forged an alliance with Marc Antony and Caesar’s opposition. The political hook-up, however, paled by comparison with the historic consequences of their love affair. According to most storytellers, Cleopatra made conquest of all the ancient world’s most powerful men, seducing and them compromising them with her irresistible beauty and her even more compelling wit, charm, and intellect.

2. Lady Godiva

History’s first “uppity woman,” married to the Baron of Coventry, England, and champion of her oppressed people. To his wife’s considerable chagrin and over her repeated protests, the greedy and gluttonous Baron relentlessly taxed the people to support his own excesses. Finally, Lady Godiva wore down the Baron’s objections, and the two struck a deal: He would remit the taxes if she rode “naked” through Coventry; precise definitions of “naked” remain the subject of spirited debate among scholars, but artists always have chosen the no-clothes version, usually covering her with her own luscious, languorous locks. Jealous of his trophy wife’s considerable good looks, the Baron decreed that the townspeople had to shutter their windows as she cruised the main street. As the story goes, all but once citizen complied: the infamous “Peeping Tom” secured a permanent place in the history of voyeurism by drilling a hole in his shutters to catch a glorious glimpse of milady’s tenderest parts. For his troubles, Peeping Tom allegedly was struck blind. Lady Godiva took her brazen ride, and the Baron enacted the tax cuts as promised. History offers no record of the Coventry citizens’ living happily ever after.

3. Joan of Arc

Fifteenth century warriorette, who claimed she had visions from God instructing her to free France from English domination. Then uncrowned Charles VII sent nineteen-year-old Joan to the siege of Orleans, ostensibly as part of a relief mission. Once there, Joan scrutinized les vieux garcons battle plans, threw-out the old playbook, and lifted the siege in just nine days. She subsequently led French forces to several more quick and decisive victories, securing Charles VII’s coronation and the end of the dispute about his rights to the French throne. For her efforts on France’s behalf and because of her claims about divine intervention, an English Ecclesiastical Court found her guilty of heresy, promptly burning her at the stake. Twenty-five years later, Pope Callixtus III overturned her conviction and declared her a martyr. Joan of Arc was canonized in 1920 and promoted to one of the patron saints of the French.

4. Ma Barker

A classic example of the story far outstripping the facts: According to the popular press, and especially according to J. Edgar Hoover and his fledgling squad of G-Men, Ma Barker was a tough-talking, cigar-smoking, Tommy-gun toting criminal mastermind who orchestrated approximately 100 hundred heinous crimes—big bank heists, high-profile kidnappings, and murders—between 1931 and 1935. On January 8, 1935, the Feds nabbed “Doc” Barker, who unfortunately carried a map to the Barker-Karpis gang’s Ocklawaha, Florida, hideout. Eight days later, federal agents surrounded the house, ordering the gangsters to surrender. Instead, Fred Barker opened fire on the agents, initiating a protracted fire-fight; witnesses and participants agreed it lasted several hours. Both Ma and Fred died in the gun battle, and FBI spokespeople reported Ma was found with a machine gun in her hands. The government publicly displayed their bodies, ostensibly to discourage other gangsters and criminal entrepreneurs, but also to boost the FBI’s public image. Witnesses and historians since have proven she never participated in any criminal activity, and they allege that FBI agents planted the gun in her hands after she died.

5. Bonnie Parker (of Bonnie and Clyde)

Barely twenty-one when she began her notorious criminal exploits, Bonnie Parker was every bit as tough, sassy, and sexy as Fay Dunaway made her appear in the 1967 movie of her three-year crime spree with partner and lover Clyde Barrow. In the same way Bonnie and Clyde introduced explicit violence to the movies, the real-life Bonnie and Clyde introduced extreme and sometimes gratuitous violence into the relatively simple business of holding-up small rural banks and markets. The stylish villains of pulp fiction killed at least nine police officers and at least two innocent bystanders during their rampages across the Midwest and rural South. Arguably the first criminals to manage their own public relations, the couple posed for titillating and sensational pictures that inevitably found their way into the newspapers and newsreels of the early thirties. According to historian Jeff Guinn, “Without Bonnie, the media outside Texas might have dismissed Clyde as a gun-toting punk, if it ever considered him at all. With her sassy photographs, Bonnie supplied the sex-appeal, the oomph, that allowed the two of them to transcend the small-scale thefts and needless killings that actually comprised their criminal careers.” Bonnie and Clyde ultimately died in an attack by Louisiana law enforcement officials in 1934.

Top 10 Unforgettable And Influential Women

1 2

Myths and legend are full 0f powerful and influential women, including Eleanor of Acquitaine, Europa, Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom,  and Pandora, the woman who cracked open a jar and let loose a world of pain and suffering.

But you don’t need to delve into fiction or history to find great women. History is full of significant females, from queens and criminals to artists and scientists, who have drastically changed this world. They’ve been rated, compared and inventoried by top lists all across the world. Lists often contain many of the same names: Cleopatra, Elizabeth II, Princess Diana, Mother Theresa, Hilary Clinton to name a few. These women are truly remarkable, but there are others just as worthy and deserve to be mentioned.

In compiling a new list, how do we decide who merits inclusion? How should women’s relative levels of influence be ascertained? This is a subjective process, but criteria must be established and acknowledged. So without further ado, here are top 10 unforgettable and influential women of all time.

1. Eleanor of Aquitaine

Eleanor was a part of the wealthiest family in Europe thousands of years back. She received a massive inheritance which came along with a title after her father passed away. This is when she became an autonomous ruler. She played a major part in developing Aquitaine and transformed it into a major cultural centre. Eleanor went on to become Queen in 1137.

Her legacy? Eleanor’s “contribution to England goes beyond her own lifetime. After the loss of Normandy (1204), it was her own ancestral lands and not the old Norman territories that remained loyal to England.  The nuns of Fontevrault wrote that she was a queen who surpassed almost all the queens of the world. True queen she was indeed.

2. Hatshepsut

Hatshepsut will go down in history as the most influential woman as far as Egyptian history is concerned. According to records, she was the most admirable and tolerant at the time and ruled independently till she died.

Her legacy? Hatshepsut was considered one of the greatest rulers: male or female of her time. Born during Egypt’s 18th dynasty, she was rose from princess to queen to pharaoh. Her rise to the throne, though against ideals of the time, might have inspired other rulers,  such as Cleopatra. During this time she was able to expand trade, watch the Egyptian economy grow and improve, and build and restore temples of Egypt. Hatshepsut did this by claiming right of male and being in the image of the Sphinx.

3. Maria Theresa of Austria

Maria Theresa of Austria was born in 1717 and she became an empress in 1740. This powerful woman modified her empire in many ways and recruited soldiers to the existing army.  She also changed the face of the Government and her efforts bore fruit when the economy flourished in front of her eyes. She abolished many evil practices and spread awareness about various subjects.

Her legacy? Maria Theresa left a revitalized empire that had a big influence on the rest of Europe in the 19th century. Her descendants followed her example she set and continued to  reform the empire. The acquisition of the Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria gave the empire an even more multinational character that would ultimately lead it to its destruction. Her insisting of compulsory schooling, as a means of Germanization, eventually triggered the rebirth of Czech culture.

4. Empress Theodora

Empress Theodora was an actress before she married Emperor Justinian I. She and her husband looked over the functioning of the empire but mostly all the decisions were made with Theodora’s blessing. She also supported her husband and helped the country win many battles. Not only that, but she also created awareness about the importance of women’s rights.

Her legacy? Theodora is now considered the greatest woman in the history of the Roman Empire and the true founder of feminism. As a result of her efforts, the status of women in the Byzantine Empire was elevated far above that of women in the Middle East and the rest of Europe.

Theodora died of an unknown type of cancer at the age of 48. It was a remarkable life and a remarkable legacy that she left behind. Sadly, her reforms are as badly needed in much of the world even today.

5. Empress Wu Zetian

Empress Wu Zetian was very firm and made all the decisions when her husband was on his death-bed. She soon became the Emperor of China and put an end to the Tang Dynasty and gave rise to the Zhou Dynasty. She was ruthless in many ways and managed to spread Buddhism as a religion.
