These games are for your toddlers, they might seem like simple games to you, but these simple games will make their little brain think very hard, they will learn many skills… Without further ado, here we go!

1. Imagination

ImaginationWhen you see your child playing with that box rather than the expensive toy within, chances are he’s imagining it’s any number of things but a box, a fortress, a house, a car. He is so focused on the pretend world inside that box and that gives you the key to the most educational toy your child can have to get him started on the right road to mental development. Playing pretend with him, whether it’s animals in a jungle or playing tea party with your daughter can give them the thirst to learn more in the outside world to expand the adventures in their pretend worlds thus strengthening both their creative and logical minds.

2. Fisher Price’s Learn your ABC’s

Fisher Price's Learn your ABC'sWhile your toddler’s exposure to computers should be limited, there is one online game that you can play with them to help them learn their ABC’s. ‘Learn Your ABC’s on the Fisher Price Website : http://www.fisher-price.com/us/fun/games/abc/ A letter is shown and read out loud on the screen and then your child looks for the matching key on the keyboard.

3. The Placement Game

The Placement GameCut out pictures of rooms from magazines, also cut out objects that belong in those rooms. (Kitchens with teapots, dishes, etc. Bedrooms with pillows, blankets, etc) Help your child place the right objects in the right rooms. Even if he doesn’t get the right the first few times, this game will help him become familiar with the objects that inhabit his world. This game is great for teaching them what objects inhabit their world. This is also a great time to show them the dangerous things in their world that they should stay away from. While most children learn from touching the stove and finding out that it’s hot, everyone also likes to avoid those costly trips to the hospital and the screaming and crying that come from touching the hot stove top.

4. Books

BooksWhile this isn’t exactly a game, no one can deny the benefits that reading to your toddler have on him/her. No one can deny that reading to your child brings an untold wealth of benefits for him but before you break out that tome of fairytales, start small. For toddlers, picture books are best, help him name the different pictures and use an animated voice when reading the few words to make it fun for both of you.

5. Puzzles

PuzzlesPuzzles are wonderful tools for teaching not only hand-eye coordination but they are one of the best games for building self-esteem because the child will have the satisfaction of fitting pieces into similarly shaped openings. With every correct placement, he’ll feel even better if you make a big deal over his small victories. You want to start with a small puzzle, with only a few pieces to work with in the beginning, gradually building to more complicated puzzles as he grows.

Top 10 Fun Drinking Games

1 2

Writing an article about the top 10 games can take forever, so here is a list of the Top 10 Fun Drinking Games for you and your friends to play. They are ranked based on how fun they are and the list contains only games made specifically for drinking. Many of these games are played in college dorm rooms, house parties, kitchen tables, or at bars. Try one and let us know how it went.

1. Flip, Sip & Strip

Flip, Sip and Strip

The fun drinking game is best played with 3 to 5 people, but with more people, the game will last longer. The rules are quite simple. You flip a coin and while it is in the air,  you call heads or tails. If you guess right, you get to pass the coin to the person on your right. If you guess wrong, pass the coin to your left and either take one piece of clothing off or drink a shot. One catch, you cannot do the same thing (sip or strip) two times in a row.  Not recommended for children under the age of 18.

2.  Anchor Man

anchor man

Nobody needs an incentive to drink beer. But the act of imbibing alcoholic fluids can become somewhat tedious. After exhausting all possible subjects of conversation, including football, sex and (god forbid) politics you sometimes grind to a halt. Should you sit there and continue to drink, as is your duty as a college student? Or should you look for ways of livening up the experience?

You need a quarter, a pitcher of beer and  two teams of 4 people each.

To play this easy to learn drinking game You pour the beer into the pitcher. For hard core drinkers, fill it up all the way. For normal people, you can fill up the pitcher half way. Each team alternates in play by attempting to bounce the quarter into the pitcher. The team that gets the quarter in the pitcher chooses the person to be the “anchor” for the opposing team. This team then must pass the pitcher around, each player taking a drink/sip from the pitcher. The anchor is the last to go and finish off the remaining beer in the pitcher. Get read to get drunk.

3. Beer Blow

Beer Blow

For these drinking games, all you need is a deck of cards, an empty bottle, and 3 or more people to play.

Place a deck of cards on an empty bottle. Each player blows cards off the deck from the bottom. The one who blows the last card off the bottle must drink one bottle of beer.

Special rule: If an ace is spotted among the cards that were just blown off, the blower needs to drink the beer. If two aces were spotted, they must drink two beers etc. Cool Game? I played this game when I went to college and totally loved it.

4. Suck Me

suck me

Everyone who participates in Suck Me need to sit in a circle and the first person picks up a card from a pack of cards in the middle and holds it against his/her lips only by sucking in air quickly through the mouth. They must then pass the card to the person on their left who receives the card by sucking the card as hard. This carries on until one player drops the card. The person who drop the card is then invited to the drink the number on the card. The game starts with a new card from the top of the pack. The game can be played by both girls and guys.

5.  Fuzzy Duck

fuzzy duck

This is a very fun drinking game that involves you pronouncing variations of ‘Fuzzy Duck’. Once you are familiar with the rules and you’ve had a few drinks this is a great game to watch and learn.

You may begin the game by saying “fuzzy duck” to the person to your left. That person then says “fuzzy duck” to the person on his/her left. This continues until someone decides to change the direction of play by saying “does he”. “Does he” changes the direction and the phrase that is said. Not only does the direction change but the people must say “ducky fuzz.” Now the game is going to the right with “ducky fuzz.” The direction is then changed back by saying “duzzy.” The words to say go back to “fuzzy duck.”

Any screw-ups => drink. After awhile when the mistakes are more frequent, it turns into a really awesome drinking game, especially for those who love fraternities.

Top 10 Involuntarily Disturbing Games And Toys For Kids

1 2

There are always two sides to the same story and the perfect examples for this idiom are clowns. While some people perceive them as funny and the silliest form of entertainment possible; for others, the clowns are those downright creepily painted individuals who are constantly the prime fuel of their nightmares. However, clowns are not the only disturbing elements from the children entertainment industry and a glimpse at some of the toys and games available in the past decades stands proof of that. In fact, some of the Top 10 toys developed within this time frame are so unsettling that it makes you wonder what the designers were actually thinking. Let’s elaborate!

1. The man of 1,000 faces or Hugo, as friends like to call him

HugoCould you imagine something creepier than a Laugh A Lot doll’s expression, Bank Face’s figure and the Russian Matryoshka dolls’ spine-chilling stare put together? If not, then meet Hugo the doll that looks especially built to incorporate the creepiest aspect of all figurines on the planet. And, since the facial expression wasn’t creepy enough to keep you up at night, Hugo also has some sinisterly atrophied hands that will do the trick.

2. The lookalike dolls, courtesy of Japan

lookalike dollsWhen it comes to weird ideas and bizarre toys, Japan simply has no competition. One of their most outstanding “masterpieces” is the lookalike doll, a toy that imitates your voice perfectly and that also has your face on it. Frankly, unless you order a real size lookalike doll that you intend to use it as a decoy for a potential assassin, it’s hard to imagine the reasons why such an adult toy actually exists.

3. Binoculars in the form of a stuffed dog head

Binoculars in the form of a stuffed dog headWhat would you do if the war was over and you had a whole pile of gas mask that you want to get rid of? Simple, you would just attach them to a stuffed animal head and sell them to children as toys. Since every parent loves to dress his child in animal-inspired clothes, why not take things to the next level an offer them the real deal: a pair of binoculars that look like a disembodied puppy head. At least, this is the only explanation I could come up with after seeing these “binoculars”.

4. Blippy, the alien that will scare the pants off any jack-in-the-box

BlippyIn case your toddler has grown accustomed to the classic jack-in-the-box and he/she is not scared anymore whenever Jack pops out, then it’s time to move to next level and get him a Blippy. The purple color, the spine-chilling eyes and that expressive smile constitute the perfect cocktail to make certain your child will be traumatized for life.

5. Eviscerate-Me Erwin or the how-to-become-a-serial-killer doll

Eviscerate-Me ErwinWell, the little patient known as Erwin is a great toy for any parent who would be proud to raise a sociopath or, if they’re “lucky”, a notorious serial killer. Granted, parents should encourage children’s talents and support them. However, provide them a toy that is basically saying it’s OK to cut something open and who knows, maybe you’ll find him/her operating on your cat one day. Wouldn’t you be swelling with pride proud when he tells the story of how he/she sliced open that hooker on a remote country road to his federal prison buddies?

Top 10 Annoying Elements In RPGs Today

1 2

Generally speaking, RPG fans are already accustomed to the clichés and repetitions found in their favorite game genre. It is kind of comforting to know what to expect – even from the moment when you read title of the game – and now, many fans of the role-playing games are starting to grow bored with certain repetitions as well as, why not admit it, long winded storyline, character builds, NPCs and so on. Let’s review the most irritating elements found in modern RPGs.

1. Does the plot really need to be in medieval times?

Wandering and fighting in a medieval setting and an entire world populated with castles, kings and princesses was fun once. In fact, when the RPG genre first appeared, the stories in these games were one of the major appeals. However, everything found on the market in the past couple of years, gives people the impression of a bad remake. The bottom line is that RPGs can exist outside the sixteenth century and the Mass Effect series is the living proof of that.

2. What happened to the content?

Many passionate gamers happily recollect the times when they needed several weeks at least to finish a game. Nowadays, they complain that the RPG world is filled with DLC and expansions. In order to get a clue about the lack of interesting content these days, you only need to look at the recently released Diablo 3. It was perhaps one of the most awaited games of 2012 (it took 11 years to develop), yet the content was completed in less than 6 hours; this is true in normal difficulty mode.

3. Totally uninspired hero names

Some games allow the players to choose the name of the heroes, while others really like to spoil it by giving their characters silly and goofy names. The harsh reality is this: even the most stereotypical Japanese RPG on this planet cannot justify naming the main hero ‘Knight Swordmaster’. On a side note, in the defense of the Final Fantasy hero – Cloud – it is enough to say that even though his name is rather ridiculous, he earned his chops.

4. If you’re going to use voice acting, don’t skimp

Back in the days, voice acting was not “a must-have” for the genre and people were free to let their imagination do the work for them. However, the new hype is to attribute a voice to the heroes and other secondary characters. The problem here is that not all voice acts are rich in character personality or memorable and at times, the heroes’ voices are enough to break or make the game. Basically, add a bad speech to a show of poor voice acting and you will surely not impress anyone.

5. There are too many kids in the story. Really, stop it!

There is not a single RPG game that does not include kids in the story, from orphans whose parents were killed by the villain (like in most of them) to child princes ruling over entire kingdoms. Even though nobody is against including children in role-playing games, many players like us believe the developers are overdoing it.

Meeting the Favourite Top 10 Cartoon Character Through Online Games

1 2

An online game featuring favourite cartoon characters, for example the cat and the mouse from the Tom and Jerry cartoon, is an excellent way to “get to know” them. Characters in online games can be programmed to behave in ways that bring them to life for the fans – in other words, if you like Tom or Jerry and you get to play at being them, then you enjoy both the game and the cartoon more than you did.

1. Tom and Jerry games

The Tom and Jerry cartoon is famous for its anarchic wranglings between cat and mouse – so famous, in fact, that it has practically single handedly perpetuated the myth of an age old war between the two species. Condemned by some overly PC people in these days of enhanced sensitivity to just about everything, Tom and Jerry serves up an astonishing amount of violence per square inch of celluloid (or whatever it is they use these days to record cartoons on) – something that clearly hits a resonating chord with some of the children who watch the show!

2. Adventure Games

Adventure games based games are mostly fighting or action games for this reason – and basically give children and adult players alike the opportunity to replicate some classic cartoon beatings in a fun gaming environment. Clanging saucepans and comedy bruises aplenty make Tom and Jerry titles the perfect way to enjoy the show when the show itself isn’t available!

3. Scooby Doo games

Of course the favourite cartoon character doesn’t have to be Tom or Jerry. There are hundreds of much loved cartoons out there, from the Tom and Jerry cartoon to Scooby Doo.

4. Ben 10 games

There are also hundreds of potential platforms for, or reasons to play, downloadable and Ben 10 games. From taking five out of a busy day at the office, to whiling away the rainy hours of a Saturday afternoon, cartoon based games are light-hearted, fun and involving.

5. Batman games

There are plenty of reasons why they’re so good – a lot of them are simply to do with the talent of the game designers – but one of the main ones is that they score over other versions of the same game by being able to personalise using cartoon characters. If you are, for example, a fan of the Batman games– then in a world where you have a choice of several different action games, you will always play the one featuring the batman and its character.

Top 10 Most Brutal Video Games

1 2

Over the years, several of the creations from game developers have sparkled numerous controversies due to their extremely brutal scenes. While the label of mature content was applied to these games, the truth is that it is mostly an indicator for the loudness, violent and obscene content they include. In short, it has nothing to do with the maturity of the player. The obvious target audience comprises of almost exclusively teens and pre-teens. Let me present a list of the ten video games that definitely fit in this category, but don’t get me wrong, I am not encouraging you to try them!

1. Mortal Kombat

The original Mortal Kombat was released back in ’92 and it is essentially a combat game in which the player can test his skills against the computer AI or a live opponent. So far so good, right? After all, there were numerous other versions of this concept already on the market, out of which Street Fighter springs to mind in a heartbeat. However, unlike the cartoonish design of Street Fighter, Midway developers went out of their way to ensure that all elements are very realistic, but also incredibly brutal and gory. The fatalities, which are the moves used by the player to finish his adversary, range from simple decapitations to setting the opponent on fire, from pulling out his spine to freezing and then shattering him, so on and so forth.

2. Carmageddon

You can expect this one to be violent from the moment you lay your eyes on the title, which is a wordplay consisting in the combination of Car and Armageddon. And the game does not ‘disappoint’, as the main objective is to win the car race; not through conventional driving, but rather by taking out the other players one by one. In addition, you can score extra points by running over every innocent passerby and gain even more bonuses for combo kills.

3. GTA (San Andreas, Vice City, Liberty City)

While the concept of the GTA series is pretty similar to the aforementioned Carmageddon game, this one incorporates several other elements, which give the players a lot more opportunities for destruction. Centered around driving, robbing, shooting as well as beating – in other words making your badass reputation known – GTA has also been blessed with an excellent game engine that can realistically simulate the effects of players attack on the bodies of his victims.

4. Manhunt

Manhunt was also developed by RockStar – the creators of the GTA series – and benefits from the same powerful game engine. The game permits you to play the part of a murderer who participates in a sadistic game of cat and mouse organized by the prison warden for entertainment purposes. The player has numerous ways to end the life of his opponents, ranging from brutally beating them to death with a baseball bat to suffocating them with a plastic bag. Extra points can be earned for utilizing more subtle and refined ways to kill, if there is such a thing. The popularity of the game grew immensely when mass-media correlated Manhunt to murder that presented certain similarities, saving RockStar millions of dollars on advertisement and marketing.

5. The Punisher

Playing the role of a comic book character who’s out for revenge, this game has definitely earned a place on the list of extremely brutal games. Simply because this Marvel character is a vigilante, you can imagine anything goes. You will be able to electrocute NPCs with high voltage wires making their heads burst into flames, throw them into swimming pools along with a couple of electric eels, push their heads into the blades of an exhaust fan, cremate them alive, etc. And this is only the beginning!

Top 10 Playground Games of the 80’s

1 2

Most children love playtime at school. It is also a vital aspect of a childs learning process. However in the days of old, long before computers did our imagining for us and before the giant corporations decided which toys that we should play with during playtime, we had old school playground games that did just as well at teaching our children the vital skills learnt through play. If you were lucky enough to be a child of the 80’s you will remember the energy that would buzz around the playground as you gathered small groups of children together to indulge in these playground games. These 10 are just some of our playground favourites of the 80’s. Do you remember playing these games?

1. Hopscotch

(Variations – Laylay, Escargot, Potsy)

Hopscotch was undoubtedly one of the most popular playground games of the 80’s. A game that can be played either alone or with a handful of other players. To play Hopscotch you would need to first lay out a course. In the 80’s this would usually be done with chalk or even roughly marked out in the dirt! However nowadays most schools are now able to choose from a whole range of pre-designed playground markings in the shape of hopscotch courses. There are a large range of varying rules for this game. The simplest explanation is that the players begin by tossing some kind of small object, usually a stone, onto the first square. They will then hop on each square to the end of the course and back again, avoiding the square they tossed the stone to without stepping on a line, missing a square or losing balance.

2. British Bulldogs

(Variations – Red Rover, Tag)

Usually played in the school playground, but the school hall was just as useful a venue for this classic school game of the 1980’s. There is no limit on the amount of players that can be included in this game which also made it one of the most popular playground games of its time. You begin by selecting one or two bulldogs to start. You then need to clearly define two “home”areas (usually at each side of the playground). All other players should stand within one of the “home”areas. The aim of the game is to run across to the other without being caught by one of the “Bulldogs” If you are caught, you then join the other “Bulldogs” The winner is the remaining free player at the end of the game. This game was once banned from many school playgrounds across Britain in the 80’s for being too violent because of its physicality but this has since been reversed.

3. What’s the Time Mr Wolf?

(Variations – Grandmas Footsteps, Red Light Green Light, Tag)

What’s the Time Mr Wolf?, like British Bulldogs, is another variation of the playground game tag. There are a few different versions of this game but the most popular version described here was the standard format for childhood playground games in the 80’s. This game involves one player being chosen to be “Mr Wolf” This player should stand at the opposite end to the playing area with their back to all the other children. What’s the Time Mr Wolf is a call-and-response game. The group will chant “What’s the time Mr Wolf?” The chosen wolf should then answer with a standard clock time such as “four o’clock” All players must then move that amount of steps towards Mr Wolf, which in this instance is four. They will then repeat this process. At any point during this game Mr Wolf may choose to shout “Dinner Time!”as a response to being asked the time. He must then chase the callers back to their original starting position. The first player to be caught then becomes Mr Wolf.

4. Kiss Chase

(Variations – Tag)

Yet another variant of the game tag where only kissing is counted as a tag. Like most kissing games “Kiss Chase”has very few rules. All members of one sex (usually the boys) are “it”and they chase all members of the opposite sex until they are caught. At this point in the game the roles are usually reversed.

5. Hide and Seek

(Variations – Manhunt, Sardines, Smee)

Hide and seek is again a game for any number of players. Begin by choosing a homebase and deciding who will be your “seeker” The seeker will then turn their back, close their eyes and count to a number out loud whilst all the other players try to conceal themselves within the surrounding environment. Once the seeker has finished counting they begin to search for the hidden players. Once found the player must try and get back to home base without being tagged by the seeker. In Sardines or Smee, the roles are reversed and you have one “Hider” As each of the seekers find the hider they must also hide with them until there is only one person left searching – the losing seeker.

In recent days most of the online games on the internet are of the arcade genre. These games are usually designed with Flash/Java/DHTML and run directly in web-browsers.
