Top 10 Myths About The US

1 2

Ironically, for a country that boasts freedom of speech as the most important value for a society, any criticism concerning an aspect of the modern life in the US is viewed as unpatriotic and unacceptable  Without denying the fact that living in the United States has numerous positive features, there are also several harsh realities to account for, especially for minorities and low-income citizens.

In a democratic system, people should take advantage of their rights and perform a lucid analysis of their society rather than accept the bedtime stories that the politicians and their corporate masters feed them via the media. Let’s take a short tour of the most common misconstructions regarding the modern United States society.

1. America is strictly a meritocratic society

The ideology that hard work and perseverance represent the key to success in America is commendable, yet inapplicable in the real world. In fact, many times authorities and privately owned companies will fail the average/low income American citizen. At the same time, excellence in your field and a good work ethic will not always provide sufficient leverage for transcending poverty. To put it simply, the original meritocracy concept has evolved towards oligarchy and financial/social stratifications become increasingly obvious.

2. There is equality between all citizens of the US

Are marriages between partners of the same sex considered legal yet? How long ago were the laws concerning the civil rights, the voting and the benefits of disabled citizens introduced? And, more importantly, why did these laws have to be established? That’s right, because the society in the US has a historical inclination for marginalizing certain minorities. There is no such thing as equality unless it is mandated by the law and sometimes, not even then.

3. Things were better in the good old days

When we are speaking about the good old days in America, we are typically referring to the 50s, a period that was allegedly all about simplicity, every citizen knew his role in society and life was bliss. However, let’s not forget that it was also a time of segregation and the fact that this idealized picture of the US in the 50s represents nothing more and nothing less than a carefully constructed marketing campaign. Rather than construct a society that adapts to the people, the role of this campaign is to make people adapt to a predetermined dogma with domineering gender dynamics and inflexible class systems.

4. We’re all living the “American Dream”

Again, the idealistic representation of the “American Dream” has few things in common with reality. In short it has been replaced by aggressive banking practices, vanishing retirement funds, fraudulent credit institutions, sky high interest rates, foreclosures at every turn, so on and so forth. And these are just a few of the barriers that stand between the average income citizen and the “American Dream”.

5. This country was founded on the idea of freedom

Well, if you examine the early history of America, you will notice that it was founded on the principles of slavery and segregation rather than freedom. The concept of freedom refers mostly to the autonomy of the white population and the condemnable practices against different color minorities continued for centuries. At the same time African, Latino and Asian immigrant communities were not assimilated into the mainstream until much later.

Top 10 Myths About Household Pets

1 2

Even though new discoveries are quickly debunking the current myths concerning household pets, some of them still persist. Owning a pet is without a doubt a great responsibility for any person, but sometimes our misconceptions get the best of us. The problem is that some of these myths and misconceptions prevent owners from providing their pet the optimal care, the best diet and the necessary treatment in the eventuality that it develops a condition. This guide aims to discuss some of these most frequently encountered myths and if you have fallen prey to either of them, you should immediately take the steps to address the issue.

1. Home treatments are less expensive compared to veterinarian fees and are equally effective

Unless you have a certification in the field of animal medicine, then it is strongly advisable to refrain from treating your pet on your own. There is a reason why veterinarians undergo extensive schooling and practice under the supervision of a licensed specialist before they are allowed to provide treatment. Their knowledge and years of experience is the safest way to establish the diagnosis of your pet correctly and select the optimal medication, in the absence of which the simple condition can escalate quite quickly along with the cost of the treatment.

2. A dog/cat that never leaves the house does not necessitate vaccines

It is necessary to point out that the legislation in the vast majority of states stipulates that the anti-rabies vaccine is mandatory, regardless of whether your dog/cat leaves the premises of your home. Rabies is spread by bats and chances are these small animals could enter the house without your knowledge. On a side note, the heartworm preventatives should also be part of your pet’s treatment, considering that you cannot really keep your home 100% mosquito free at all times.

3. Sister-brother pet mating is not an issue

False, dogs and cats have no sense of taboo and will in fact mate with their siblings as soon as their reproductive organs are functional. Like in the case of human, inbreeding has high changes of determining congenital defects, so the pets should be spayed/neutered before they are 6 months old. Alternatively, you can give them away to different homes.

4. Milk is part of a cat’s mandatory diet

This is probably the most frequently encountered mistake, but it is simple to understand why pet owner believe that: cats love milk and this aliment has positive health effects for humans. However, while the weaning period milk does constitute the primary source of nourishment, the cat develops lactose intolerance. Therefore, by giving them milk you can expect gastrointestinal infections, diarrhea, gas, etc.

5. Cats usually urinate outside the box as revenge

You simply cannot attribute human emotions and reactions to your household pets, no matter how friendly or vengeful they appear. If your cat was trained to utilize the litter box but you discover urine stains on the carpet all of a sudden, it could indicate that it is suffering from a urinary tract disease (stones, infection, inflammation, etc.). Therefore, visit your veterinarian right away in order to establish the diagnosis.

Top 10 Myths About Cancer Many People Still Believe Today

1 2

Cancer is a condition that can be defined based on its three most important characteristics, namely the unchecked division of a cell group, the invasion and consequent annihilation of adjacent tissue and cells as well as the metastasis or development in other sections of the organisms. These features constitute the factors that allow us to dissociate between a malign tumor and a benign one, the latter being self-limiting, non-invasive and non-metastatic.

Furthermore, it is necessary to point out that while the formation of tumors is proprietary to most forms of cancer, patients with leukemia and similar variants of the condition will not experience these growths. Let’s find out what the top false notions that pervade cancer today are.

1. There is only one form of cancer

The false notion most probably stems from slogans such as “Cure for cancer”, which leads people to believe that once a treatment is discovered, it is applicable for all forms of the condition. To put it simply, some consider that medical science has to discover a single, one size fits all miracle drug/procedure. However, the truth is that each individual variant of cancer manifests quite differently from the others, which means that the treatment has to be “custom fit”. In addition to that, while medical science has made important breakthroughs in treating certain forms of the condition such as breast cancer with almost 90% success rates, for others (esophageal cancer, lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, etc.) there is still a long way to go.

2. Cancer is an incurable diseases

This misconception is similar to the one above. Cancer, or more accurately the general concept of cancer, has no actual 100% treatment. However, there are effective treatments for several versions of cancer. Medical science defines a “cured” or “cancer free” patient as a person who has been able to eliminate the cancerous formation from his organism and for whom the tumor has not relapsed in 5 years. In other words, if you are familiar with the technical significance of the medical terms, you can understand why this generalization is completely false.

3. Cell phones constitute a factor in the development of cancer

The truth is that modern science cannot discredit this myth beyond the shadow of a doubt. However, the consensus in the medical community is that no correlation between cell phone radiation and the development of carcinoma tumors exists. Furthermore, the latest generations of smartphones are considerably safer compared to their predecessors and the technology behind them is constantly evolving. Moreover, conducting a study that could prove/disprove the link between cancer and cell phones is virtually impossible.

4. All lumps are of cancerous origins

The presence of a lump or abnormal tissue accumulation does not automatically represent a cancer sentence. Without denying the possibility of a malign tumor, chances are that it could also constitute a cyst or a benign/precancerous tumor. Cysts are either operable or absorbed by the organism in time, whereas the benign/precancerous tumors will have to be extirpated surgically. You won’t know for certain without undergoing a screening and/or a biopsy.

5. Artificial sweeteners are responsible for cancer

Back in the 70s, a research conducted on the effects of cyclamate on lab mice suggested that artificial sweeteners might constitute a responsible factor for cancer. However, later on it was discovered that the lab mice were fed an incredibly high quantity of cyclamate, more exactly 800 soda cans worth of it. Therefore, since no other study revealed enough data to suggest that moderate consumption of artificial sweeteners could have a negative impact on your health, the theory was dismissed.

Top 10 Myths About Home Remedies

This article sets out to debunk the myths about home remedies and colds. As a certified First Aid/CPR personnel, I understand where people make their mistakes.

Myth 1: Butter on burns helps with healing

Truth: This is not the case. DO NOT put butter on burns. It will only cook the skin and the wound even more when exposed to light or heat. You’ve also placed an unclear and foreign object on an opening that could easily be infected. Run the burn with cold war for 10 minutes Use ointment/topical cream and dressing to cover.

Myth 2: Cue tips clean out dirty ears

Truth: This is not the case. Do not insert any objects into your ear, especially cue tips. People are prone to do this all time. If the ear becomes contaminated, flush it out with water. There are specific tools which will allow you to do so. Check your local drug mart for more details

Myth 3: If dressing not put on properly, remove it.

Truth: .Once the dressing is on, do not remove it. It is already doing its job by trying to suppress the blood. If you need to put more dressing then do so, but DO NOT remove ones that are on the wound.

Myth 4: Vinegar compresses help sunburns

Truth: Do not add any compresses that may cause stinging or an unwanted reaction. Remember that vinegar is an acid that will burn your skin, especially with sunburns. Use cold war compresses instead.

Myth 5: Use peroxide on scrapes and cuts and leave open to the air.

Truth: No. This kills body cells that are helping the body eliminate bacteria.

Myth 6: Apple Cider Vinegar helps beat heartburn

Truth: No it does not. It mostly is used to kill germs and weight loss. There is no evidence of heartburn remedies.

Myth 7: White rum with lemon juice and water to reduce fever

Truth: Alcohol cools down the body to shivers. Do not attempt to do this.

Myth 8: Do not go outside with wet hair

Truth: Colds are caused by viruses and not by cold weather. You thus cannot get a cold from having wet hair.

Myth 9: Drink tea with lemon and honey to cure voice loss

Truth: Tea and lemon are acidic. This can case a problem to the voice. The vocal folds are made of delicate tissues. The acid may cause acid reflux.

Myth 10: Hot Toddies to help raspy voices

Truth: Many doctors advise to stay away, especially from warming drinks that have alcohol in them. The drink may not pass through the inflamed area.

Top 10 Misconceptions About Nursing

Nurses are healthcare professionals who are responsible for the treatment, safety, and recovery of ill patients. They work with doctors in rounds to make sure that all needs are met and that patients are taken care of. There are, however, some myths that need to be debunked. Stereotypes define nursing and I out to spell them out.

Myth 1: All nursing jobs are the same:

Truth: This is not correct. There are two main types of nursing titles: Registered Nurse and Registered Practical Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse. Each title has different job duties assigned to them. For example, you would see more RPNs/LPNs in the extensive care units, while more RNs will work in the emergency room. This is not to say that these duties are rigid. With further qualifications, the lines between RPN/LPN and RN become blurred.

Myth 2: Nurses cannot advance in their jobs:

Truth: Absolutely false. Many nurses go on to obtain their masters degree and become Clinical Nurse Leaders (CNL). This position is developed to train highly skilled nurses, who focus on improving the quality and safety results for patients. Others can become Nurse Practitioners, who make decision when the doctor is absent.

Myth 3: Nurses wear white uniforms and a white hat:

Truth: Absolutely not…unless it is for traditional purposes. The uniform has not been used since World War II.

Myth 4: All nurses are women:

If anyone watched Meet the Parents and Meet the Fockers, you will see an example of a male nurse. It is quite usual now to have male nurses. Not all nurses will be female. According to statistics in 2010, 5% of nurses are male now in the United States. They are increasing, but the myth and stereotype has not gone away.

Myth 5: Male nurses are less respected:

Truth: There is no truth to this. There are some restrictions on where a male nurse can go for very obvious reasons. For example, maternity wards will mostly hire women nurses to assist with birth. Yet again this stereotype will probably go away as there are male doctors and gynecologists.

Myth 6: Nursing duties are not hard to perform:

Truth: Nurses take care of patients round the clock. They make them comfortable, take care of them, feed them and even provide them with medical care doctor prescribed. They work in rounds with the doctors and have a say in the decision making process. Their job is not easy as they deal with frustrated patients and do the work that leads up to the doctor visit.

Myth 7: Nurses are Failed Doctors:

Truth: This is a horrible stereotype that has not been debunked yet. It is not true in any sense. Many nurses are quite qualified and have the appropriate skills in what they do. There are various reasons why nursing was the only option; references could be made to money, job duties and the market. There are no statistics to prove this myth.

Myth 8: All nurses can prescribe pills and medication:

Truth: Nurses do initial work and doctors are the ones who assess the situation and prescribe the medication whenever necessary. If there is an emergency and the doctor is nowhere to be found, the Nurse Practitioner makes the call.

Myth 9: Nurses Get Burned Out:

Truth: Nurses are no different than other professionals. Each profession brings its own stress and workload. We can not judge as it is like comparing apples and oranges.

Myth 10: Nursing jobs are easy to find:

Truth: This all depends on the area and country you are working in. Nursing jobs now require more specific skills and training. If anyone wants to work in the emergency room, they will need extra courses and certifications before they are hired. It is very important to note that there are known barriers to nursing jobs, as much as there are job prospects.

Sushi is the most misunderstood food item. Many friends will not go to a sushi restaurant because they do not like raw meat. Many people also complain that sushi and sashimi are cut too thin and too small. This article desires to answer some questions many people have when it comes to sushi; dispelling the myths.

Myth 1: All sushi are raw:

Truth: No. In fact not all sushi are made and served raw. Unagi (eel) sushi and also kani (crab meat) sushi are examples of non-raw meat. The unagi, specifically, is barbecued and served on a bed of rice.

Myth 2: The thicker the sushi, the better is the restaurant serving it:

Truth: This is not always the case. Sushi is judged by the perfection of the sushi chef’s cut. All sushi must be cut thinly and at an angle. Chefs go through special training and have to master the art of cutting sushi. Those that cut thick slices are not master chefs; thus it makes the quality low.

Myth 3: Sushi restaurants do not serve vegetarians:

Truth: There are vegetarian maki sushi rolls filled with yam, cucumbers and avocado. There are also vegetarian sushi restaurant, which are in the culinary business of mimicking real fish. Remember, it’s not real fish, it’s vegetarian made with tofu and food colouring.

Myth 4: Sushi is eaten only with chopsticks:

Truth: It is very easy to use chopsticks and pick up sticky rice with them. Many restaurants and website guides would be happy to show you how to hold chopsticks properly. If you still cannot use chopsticks, a fork or even hands are fine.

Myth 5: The soy sauce served with sushi causes infertility/sterility:

Truth: Statistics show you need to drink 12 oz or 60g of soy sauce per month in order to be effected by mimicking estrogen levels and infertility/sterility. Most humans do not come close to such numbers.

Myth 6: You can get mercury poisoning from sushi:

Truth: Like all other foods, you need to eat sushi on a sporadic basis. This means that you cannot eat it everyday. Many fish like tuna and salmon have high mercury levels. It is best to check the guide on mercury levels per fish if you would like to know more information. If you eat sushi once a week or even twice per week, you are at low risk of getting mercury poisoning.

Myth 7: You can die from eating raw fish from sushi:

Truth: Again, as I’ve said before, everything needs to be eaten at a good proportion. Too much is not good for you and your health. If you eat too much, you will have major consequences.

Myth 8: Japanese Restaurant only serve sushi:

Truth: Sushi is not only Japanese food. Many Korean restaurants serve the dish as well. Many Japanese restaurants also have other specialties like teriyaki, teppanyaki, soups and small appetizers such as miso soup and kani salad.

Myth 9: Sushi is not healthy as the rice is starched:

Truth: No, this is not the case. The wasabi is excellent for cleaning out your stomach. The seaweed, which many sushi rolls are wrapped in, is healthy as well. It has important vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.

Myth 10: Pregnant women should not eat sushi:

Truth: Sushi is not only made with raw fish. Pregnant women are advised against eating raw meat sushi because of the bacterial issues. However, they are allowed to eat seaweed and vegetarian maki sushi rolls. Thus, women are allowed to eat in sushi restaurants. It is all about the type of sushi they eat while in the restaurant.

Top 10 Misconceptions About Green Tea

1 2

Green tea is a popular drink that has various benefits. Many associate the tea with excellent health and well-being. Many green tea lovers do not base their opinions on facts and miss the crucial information they need to understand the tea. As such, here are the top-10 misconceptions about green tea.

1. Green Tea is decaffeinated:
Green Tea is decaffeinatedDespite popular beliefs, green tea does carry caffeine. The exact amount is determined by the quantity of tea used and the length of time the leaves are dried. On average green tea has 15-40 mg of caffeine compared to instant coffee which has 50-100 mg per cup. Excessive drinking could cause insomnia, dizziness and fast heart beats.

2. Green Tea helps people lose weight:
Green Tea helps people lose weightThe studies done on green teas are valid. However, the tests are principally looking at specific type of teas as the areas of concentration. They sometimes fail to examine other teas as a form of analysis. For example, European scientists have found that black tea has identical results as green tea when helping tea drinkers lose weight. Asian researchers when exhilarating the green tea market, failed to mention this in their studies.

3. Green Tea, Black Tea and Oolong come from different plants:
Green Tea, Black Tea and Oolong come from different plantsThis is not true, despite popular beliefs. All teas come from Camellia Sinensis. This belief is similar to that of olives. Green and Black olives come from the same tree; yet when ripe, green olives turn black. When it comes to tea, the colour of the leaves is determined by the way each is processed.

4. Black tea has more caffeine than Green Tea:Black tea has more caffeine than Green Tea
Despite popular beliefs one should not view caffeine levels by the colour of the tea. The younger the leaves, the more caffeine the tea has. For example, Japanese green tea, Gyokuro, has more caffeine than a regular green tea.

5. Green Tea makes you healthy:
Green tea is not the magic tooth fairy. It cannot produce wanders as much as people would love to think. Although green tea does speed up the metabolism, it does not solve various other problems associated with overweight. One cannot just drink a cup of green tea after eating 4000 calories worth of food and think they will be able to lose weight and reduce cholesterol and blood sugar levels. The process of burning fat would be faster but surely not thorough at a snap of a finger or shall we say, a cup of green tea.

Top 10 Common Myths About Autism

Imagine you are someone who simultaneously sees and hears the following things:

(I) red light flashing in front of you

(II) paper being scrunched in your ear

(III) someone yelling at you in your ear

(IV) someone tapping their finger on your desk

This scenario represents the day in a life of someone with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). ASD is a developmental disability that weakens an individual’s social interaction and communication. Children begin to show signs of ASD before the age of three. Various skills do not develop until adulthood.

I’ve decided to dedicate this article to correcting 10 myths about Autism that many people still believe to be true. Please share this with as many people as possible to help raise autism awareness. We may not understand where Autism comes from, but we at least are able to stick together and help one another and to educate ourselves about what autism is.

Myth # 1: There is a cure for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Truth: ASD is a lifelong disorder and stays with the person throughout his/her life. Although there is no cure, there are intensive programs designed to integrate individuals with the disorder. Many experts use different methods such as music therapy and social stories to treat people suffering because ASD.

Myth # 2: Bad Parentage is the cause of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Truth: Statistics and studies have not been able to back up this statement. Many parents are quite supportive of children with ASD. They have allied themselves with organizations such as Autism Speaks to help. Parents increasingly feel overwhelmed by the responsibilities that come with having a family member with ASD. Many have had to quit their jobs to better help their children.

Parents of autistic children sometimes meet disapproving eyes of people who believe their children’s behavior is simply because of bad parenting. This has long since been proved wrong. Fortunately, increased autism awareness has decreased such misconception.

Myth # 3: People with Autism are incapable of learning

Truth: This is dead wrong. Often, autistic people are behind their age mates and reach the developmental milestones later than normal. But when they get appropriate support, particularly with early intervention (when autism is discovered early, e.g. under the age of 3) autistic people can make incredible improvement and often keep up with their age mates in school.

Myth # 4: Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) show lack of emotion

Truth: Sometimes, because of the social difficulties, autistic people are considered to be “cold” because they do not seem to express love or show empathy. However, most autistic people are more than capable of feeling and expressing love though sometimes in unusual ways. Moreover, many autistic people are far more empathetic, though they may express their empathy in different ways than us. Every cue and every sign counts.

Myth # 5: Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) are good at patterns and memorization

Truth: If anyone has read the book, The Curious Case of the Dog in the Night-Time, one would remember Christopher memorizing information and being concerned with patterns. His attention and focus were only on the topics he loved such as murder mysteries. Christopher is an example of someone with Asperger’s Syndrome, one of the 5 types of ASD. There are various individuals, who have trouble processing their information. They may try to memorize credit cards, essays, speeches and dates. However, many individuals with ASD can go into withdrawal because of an overload of information in their brain.

Myth # 6: Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) do not communicate well

Truth: 80% of individuals with ASD learn how to speak and communicate after intensive schooling and training. Many individuals like Temple Grandin serve as an example of someone, who overcame the barriers of ASD to become a professor, author and public speaker.

Myth # 7: We can understand and comprehend Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Truth: The ASD support ribbon is a good analogy to explain ASD. ASD cases are different. Each individual who has ASD may not have the same symptoms as his classmate. The contrast in colours in the ribbon represent that complexity of this disorder. Scientists cannot begin to understand ASD as each case is special.

Myth # 8: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is represented by numerous Non-Profit Organizations

Truth: Many individuals would argue that ASD is not properly represented by non-profit organizations. Many organizations such as Autism Speaks fail to include individuals with ASD on their board councils. One should note that not all individuals with autism are the same. Many individuals grow up to be excellent role model and high functioning citizens in the globalizing world. They can represent themselves as much as others can.

Myth # 9: Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) cannot make eye contact

Truth: With intensive programs and school, individuals with ASD can make eye contact. Although they have difficulties social interacting with others, they can outgrow some of the symptoms as well. One should also remember that not all individuals with ASD have the same symptoms.

Myth # 10: Punishment can cure Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Truth: This is false. Many individuals with ASD are oversensitive to various situations. Punishment can make the situation worse.

Top 10 Most Popular Medical Myths

1 2

People around the world love to panic and make up medical facts which are then passed on to generations after them. The following  10 are the most popular.

1. Sugar makes children hyper

People all over the world are sure of the fact that if children eat too many sugar-coated candies, they will start jumping around and tire themselves out in no time. However, this is not true. Most children are naturally hyper and if they like to bounce up and down on the bed, it has nothing to do with the cereal they ate for breakfast.

2. Most of the body heat is lost through the head

A study was carried out on people who were subjected to very low temperatures. The verdict was that they lost most of their body heat through their heads. One fact was ignored- the soldiers were fully clothed but their heads were exposed.

3. Everybody should drinks 8 glasses of water everyday

This myth came into being because a certain Government agency during the 1940s declared that a human being should consume 8 glasses of fluid on daily basis. Over the years, the ‘fluid’ part was pushed out and replaced with ‘water’. Basically, it is okay if you do not drink 8 glasses of water every day as long as you keep yourself hydrated.

4. If you swallow chewing gum, it will leave your system after 7 years

This myth is as ridiculous as the one which says that if you swallow a fruit seed, a tree will grow in your stomach. Even though gum does not get digested by the human digestive system, it will leave the system quite easily.

5. If you crack your knuckles, you will develop arthritis when you are older

When you crack your knuckles and hear the sound, it only means that the gas bubbles are bursting. The above mentioned myth is not true and the worst thing that can happen is that your finger joints will get weak by the time you are 70.

Top 10 Myths About ‘Healthy’ Foods

1 2

Over the years, a number of myths have been formed about healthy food which when revealed, are quite shocking.

1. Eating too much fruit will lead to blood sugar problems

If you are eating healthy food, you must be eating some fruits too. Many people believe that since these fruits contain natural sugars, they will instantly have blood sugar problems. They feel that if they eat too much fruit, they will get a sugar rush that will subside soon, leaving them empty. This is not true. Fact is that if your blood sugar is high, it has nothing to do with the fruit.

2. Fruit can lead to Candida

Many people believe that if they eat too many mangoes, bananas or apple, they will get Candida. They self-diagnose themselves and panic to no extent. Fact is that this is not true and if they do not believe it, they should visit a doctor.

3. Carrots will improve your eyesight

Many people who have thick glasses and those who find it difficult to even recognize themselves in the mirror without their contacts start nibbling on carrots day in and day out with the hope that it will improve their eyesight. However, while carrots are definitely good for you as they are healthy, they will not change your eyesight. Therefore, keep those glasses on and stop overdosing on the carrots.

4. Eating too many bananas will lead to an overdose of potassium

While too much of supplemental potassium will definitely cause problems, natural potassium is completely safe. Even though bananas contain about 1,200 mg of this element, you do not need to worry.

5. Fruit can lead to the development of cancerous cells in the body

This myth is completely untrue. In fact, the more fruit you eat, the more you will keep cancer at bay. Therefore, those patients who have cancer should munch on a whole of fruits through the day instead of avoiding it. People believe that since cancer cells expand after feeding on sugar, fruits are dangerous. However, this is simply not true.
