Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New Year. Dishes are sugared to help make the year sweeter and more prosperous. Pomegranates, Chickpeas, Bread, Dates and Beets are superstitiously used to bring affluence. As such, here are the top 10 dishes traditionally made of Rosh Hashanah.
1. Apple & Honey:
Traditionally, before anyone starts eating, they must take a piece of apple and dip it into honey. Additionally, they must make a toast with others using the apple. The eating of the sweetened apple superstitiously ensures a sweet and happy upcoming new year.
2. Tzimmes:
This is another dish served traditionally at an Ashkenazi New Year’s dinner as an appetizer. It is basically cooked vegetables, including carrots and chickpeas and beans. Honey and sugar are then added to make this dish sweet, which makes it perfect for Rosh Hashanah and its sweet theme.
3. Gefilte Fish:
This dish comprises of poached fish (mixed with onions, carrots and matzo meal) stuffed into fish skin. It is traditionally made with pike fish, white fish, mullet and/or carp. Many people serve the fish like patties with carrots and/or horseradish on top. During Rosh Hashanah, the dish is served to everyone, but the fish head is given to the head of the household. All in all, the dish is kosher and can be served with both dairy and meat meals.
4. Kugel:
This is an Ashkenazi dish traditionally served with main course dinners. It is a casserole dish made with egg noodles or potatoes. It is widely known to bring spiritual blessings, especially on Shabbats.
5. Matzo Ball Soup:
Matzah ball soup is a chicken broth with little balls made from matzo meal. The broth is traditionally cooked with chicken, onions, carrots, celery and parsnip, in addition to matzo balls.

New Year’s Eve is often celebrated with parties and social gatherings spanning the transition of the year at midnight. This day is celebrated with a lot of energy and excitement as the people all over the world welcomes the New Year after midnight and wish that the New Year brings them glory and happiness. This day, people do crazy parties and celebrate happiness in many different ways. Here is a list of activities you can do in the New Years Eve to make it a wonderful day. Here is a list of top ten ways you can celebrate your New Years Eve.
1. Home Made Party Supplies:
This is a very unique and a nice way to celebrate the New Years Eve. New Year is always a big day to celebrate and party. What about the party supplies? Make your own party supplies at home and just see the fun. You can group yourself with your friends or family and start making all those small big party supplies at your home. What’s a New Year’s Eve party without the proper hats, noisemakers, poppers, and confetti? Get the kids involved in making these fun stuffs for your at-home celebration, and have everything ready and waiting when the clock strikes twelve.
2. Home Movies: Dinner and a Show:
Call all your family and friends at your house and just enjoy some brilliant movies on your home theater. Most of us have series of home videos, but how often do we look at them? Spend the last evening of the year watching the movie of your family’s life with the people you love most. Depending on how many hours of footage you want to review, you may want to have an early and a late show. During intermission, serve the favorite family meal while sharing memories of favorite past experiences. And during the show, don’t forget the popcorn!
3. Try a Different Sort of Meal:
This is also a very good way to celebrate the New Years Eve. Just try to invite a few close friends and make a different dessert item. You can cook anything unique and fun filled so that you ca experience something different. Cheese fondue is a fun, communal meal that everyone enjoys. You’ll need a heavy pot for the fondue, a hot plate or burner to keep the fondue warm on the table, some long forks, and a loaf of crusty bread. Cut the bread into bite-sized pieces, keeping some crust on each piece. When the fondue is ready, gather everyone around the pot with individual forks. Take turns spearing the bread and swirling it in the melted cheese. If you lose your piece of bread in the pot, tradition says you may have to kiss the person on your left, kiss everyone at the table, or pay a forfeit devised by others at the table.
4. Propose your Partner:
You can make it special by taking your girlfriend out for a nice romantic dinner in a nice and good restaurant. You can secretly order for a ring and especially for her. Enjoy the light music in the restaurant and talk all stuffs. Wait till the clock stuck 12 and here you go!! Propose her giving her the ring and made her feel on top of the world.
5. Play Games at Home:
This is another nice and beautiful way to celebrate the New Years Eve. You can call your close friends home and make it a big group. Play many different games till midnight and enjoy the New Years Eve. These can be board games or team games. Bring back a little of those childhood years with games like Monopoly, Chutes and Ladders. For a large family set up more than one game station so that everyone can play what they like.

People always have plans for new years and different people around the world celebrate it differently. The following are common and are carried out by those who wish to greet the New Year with a lot of noise and celebration!
1. Lavish Parties
Planning for parties for 31st December starts roughly around the end of October. People make sure that every detail is in place and that their guests have nothing to complain about when the clock strikes twelve!
2. Prayers
Those who believe in God or follow a particular religion like to send a little prayer in God’s direction as soon as 1st January of the new year rolls around. Many families like to come together and carry out these ceremonies with the help of soft music and dozens of candles.
3. Resolutions
We all make new year resolutions. It is always good to make a fresh start and leave all our old problems and worries behind. There is no better time to do this than 31st December when the year is ending and a new one is starting. Even though most of us forget all about them by about 7th January, it is fun to believe that we will stick to them at the time!
4. First Footing
This tradition is followed by Europeans all over the world. They believe that the first person that enters their house when the clock strikes twelve should not only have dark hair but should also be male. He should come bearing gifts which should be symbolic of good luck or good health.
5. Keep Smiling
Many people believe that if they enter the new year laughing or smiling, they will spend the rest of the year the same way. Therefore, even if they are not particularly happy when the clock starts chiming, they start laughing just to keep up with the tradition.
