1. Avatar

This project by James Cameron’s will be a great cinematic experience because of the 3D effects according to several sources online. This movie portrays the story of an injured ex-marine who is coerced to exploit a planet rich in bio-diversity and it shows his battle for survival.

 

2. Terminator Salvation

A 2009 American sci-fi film, Terminator Salvation is the fourth installment in the Terminator series and is directed by McG. It stars Christian Bale in the role of John Connor, the future resistance leader. Sam Worthington will play the role of Cyborg Marcus Wright.

 

3. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

If you love to see the massive explosions, shining camera moves, fast cuts and composed shots of Megan Fox then this movie is not to be missed. It is a fantastic movie in the sci-fi genre.

 

4. Star Trek

J.J Abrams, the director presents the new film with a totally new cast, including Kumar as Sulu and John Cho from Harold. Eric Bana and Winona Ryder also have good roles in the film.

 

5. Surrogates

This movie portrays the story of a cop played by Bruce Willis who sets out from his home to investigate the murder of other surrogates. It is set in a futuristic world where the interaction of humans is through surrogate robots and where they live in a state of isolation.

 

6. G.I Joe: The Rise of Cobra

The movie, directed by the same director who directed Mummy, Stephen Sommers is a futuristic story which shows the rise of the harmful terrorist organization.

 

7. District 9

Many document style interviews precede the actual opening of the film. It is a science fiction film produced by Peter Jackson and directed by Neill Blomkamp. The film stars Jason Cope, Sharlto Copley and Robert Hobbs. The role of a South African bureaucrat is played by Copley who has to relocate the prawns or the extraterrestrial creatures to a new camp outside Johannesburg city.

 

8. Moon

A 2009 sci-fi thriller this movie is about a lone lunar employee who experiences a personal crisis at the end of his three year stint. Sam Rockwell plays the role of the lunar employee and the voice for his robot companion is given by Kevin Spacey. Moon was released in select theatres in New York and Los Angeles on 12th June 2009.

 

9. 12th Man

This story is about a man who wakes up from a dying space station with no memory of whom he really is with only one escape pod and two hours of oxygen left. The story is written by Mark Jonathan Stanley, producer of Coma remake. There are also 11 criminal psychopaths in the story.

 

10. Cargo

Cargo is the first Swiss production science-fiction movie from the year 2009. It is also the first major feature film by Ivan Engler. It shows the earth as uninhabitable because of an ecological collapse and the people start living on overcrowded space stations in the earth’s orbit.
