Often it becomes impossible for us to get rid of the messed up face due to pimples. Small or big, they can be a real nuisance. It might have happened with each one of us. On waking up, we find a zit on the forehead or near the lips and the first thing which pops up in our mind is to break the glass. With the number of people increasing who get affected due to acne and other such skin problems, everyone has come up with a new way to treat them. When you Google the steps and methods, you can have thousands of procedures. As we call it, one or the other will definitely work on our face. Otherwise the aunty next door is always there to give her advice as she went through the same phase 1 or 2 years ago. In a similar manner, I am going to give you a brief 10 point summary on the effective home remedies which can be worked upon while you are fighting with those pig headed pimples. Of course these are not medically validated and do not guarantee their extinction. But they can be tried before you rush to the doctor and spend some bucks.
1. Neem face pack
When we speak of home remedies, neem is the first option which comes in our mind. It is the best one too. Known for its purifying properties, neem acts as an anti-fungal and an anti-bacterial agent. It is known for its blood purifying properties since ages. It cools your skin and is the best possible remedy for pimples. In fact it prevents them. Grind a few fresh or dried neem leaves and apply them on your face as a pack. Forget the artificial. Do not go for neem face wash and face packs. They may aggravate the situation. Speaking from personal experiences, I have tried them and later regretted having used them. A paste of neem leaves and turmeric when applied on the face for about an hour is considered to be a good and fast treatment for curing pimples.
2. Aloe Vera
Aloe vera is magical in nature. It can fight almost anything in this nature. You name it, aloe vera has it. My mother has took it on her own to keep cultivating pots of aloe vera plant at our place. Can you think of the fact that it has continued as a medicinal form since the start of this century. It contains polysaccharides which kill the acne causing bacteria. It also helps to remove the excess oil and dirt from our skin surfaces. It heals your skin faster and you basically scar less. Moreover the gel can be used for other purposes as well. Such a marvel in a cactus!
3. Tomatoes
Take some tomato pulp and apply it on your cheekbones. I assure you they will start to glow after a week or so. Personally tried and tested tomatoes are very helpful in reduction of pimples. If you are going to apply it regularly, then you surely will be getting rid of the acne and pimples problems. Leave it for about an hour after you apply the pulp.
4. Apple cider vinegar
The magical liquid which can be left on the face for a long time, try it for ever! You can wash it or leave it like that. You can also prepare a mask by mixing apple juice with honey. You can use grated apple pulp if the juice is hard to extract. This vinegar regulates the ph level of your skin. By balancing the ph level, it helps in detoxifying your skin. When there are lots of toxins in your blood, you detoxify your system. In a similar manner, your skin needs some detoxification too. Apple cider vinegar is also used to wave off warts.
5. Aspirin paste
Crush an aspirin tablet finely. Mix it with some cold cream which you use it frequently. The ratio should be one tablet per tablespoon of your cold cream. Spread it evenly on your face. Keep in for 3-5 minutes. Rinse thoroughly after that. It helps in reducing blemishes and acne marks. It also lightens your face. You can also try the aspirin and honey facial mask.
6. Alum
Check out the grocery stores and their spice aisle. You will find potassium alum in them. Famously known for its anti-septic and astringent properties, alum has its benefits in treating skin too. It helps in shrinking the size of your tissues and in turn, your pores and pimples. Buy a big block and not the powder form packet. Gently wipe and not rub the alum on the affected areas. Powdered alum is a bit harsh on your skin. It also removes dead skin cells. And then the use of any remedy boils down to the fact that what is your skin type. If you have oily skin, alum can be used as a remedial measure. And if dry skin is what you have, then it is not a good option for you. It can cause rashes, redness and irritation in the extreme cases.
7. Tea tree oil
Tea tree and lavender oil can absolutely destroy your zits. Take a small drop of the oil with the help of a q-tip. Apply it only on the affected area. Leave it overnight. It is a great anti-bacterial and anti-microbial agent to treat mild and moderate acne. The best part of tea tree oil is that there are no side effects to its use.
8. Lemon
Lemons are rich in vitamin c. they can help to dry the pimples faster and you will feel less pain. Before going to bed, apply a bit of fresh lemon juice on your pimples by using a dabber. Do not use your hands. They may infect the area and the situation will worsen. But do not use it if you have sensitive skin. Lemon is acidic in nature and affect otherwise. Before you apply lemon, make sure that you have taken a steam face bath. It will help in unclogging the pores.
9. Baking soda
Baking soda when mixed with water can be a great medicine for your skin. It helps in manicure and pedicure and even reduces dark marks. Make a thick creamy paste and rub it on the pimples. Since baking soda is alkaline in nature, it can dry out your skin. Rub it on the pimples in a circular motion. Leave this paste on the pimples for about 10 minutes. Wash off with a wet cloth. You can repeat this method for around 2-3 times in a day. But before you resort to this, try it on a small region unless you are sensitive to it.
10. Wash
Wash your face twice a day and no more than that. Do not do it in excess. Use mild soaps for acne prevention. Gently massage your face with circulating fingers. Do not scrub your face when you are affected with pimples. Try this one as a saviour. Dip your face in cold water for about 5 seconds and repeat it for 4 more times. Repeat a few times weekly. Make a soap mixture by dissolving your soap in warm water and keep it in a container. These are some simple everyday tasks which can be done without much pain and you will be relieved.
