Top 10 Disney Shows that We Wish Could Come Back

We all love to watch television and before the outbreak of smart phones and social networking websites spoiled us, television used to be an irreplaceable part of our daily routine. As far as I can remember, it was almost impossible to move me from front of the television, especially when I have tuned in my favorite channel – Disney! Disney Channel is a division of The Walt Disney Company with its conception from 1983 to 1997 as the original “The Disney Channel”. Earlier the channel broadcasted shows meant for family and young children with “Good Morning Mickey” as its first show ever premiered. But later on they came up with shows for teenagers and adults. These were the shows that were too good at entertaining as well as connecting to teenagers that we all fell in love with them. And I really wish that these shows could come back and again be a part of our lives the way they used to be. Here are top 10 of my favorite Disney shows that I would love to watch again.

1. Lizzie McGuire

Lizzie McGuire

This was undoubtedly the best series Disney has come up with till now (or at least for me it is!) Hillary Duff played the main character Lizzie, with an animated alter ego, who has Miranda (Lalaine) and Gordo (Adam Lamberg) as her best friends. The show portrayed everything a regular teenager goes through. Infatuations, friendships, heartbreaks, going to high school, getting the first job, one can relate to each and every part of the show. Lizzie’s brother Matt (Jake Thomas) was also a superb character who would always be busy in setting up some prank and getting on Lizzie’s nerves. Needless to say, this series was simply awesome!

2. Hannah Montana

Hannah Montana

Not just a sitcom but this became more of a trend with millions of kids and teens going crazy for Hannah Montana concerts and merchandise. The show focussed on a teenage girl Miley Stewart, played by Miley Cyrus, who has the best of both worlds as she lives a regular teen life by the day attending school and chilling out with her friends on a Malibu beach but becomes a popstar Hannah Montana by the night. Nobody except her family, her brother Jackson (Jason Earles) and father Billy Ray (Bily Ray Cyrus), and her best friends Lily Truscott (Emily Osment) and Oliver Oken (Mitchel Musso) knows about her double life. Miley dates another popstar Jake Ryan (Cody Linley) who also gets to know about her secret. The show was filled with humour and interesting plots which were too good at amusing the audience especially the teenage lot. Also Jackson was effortlessly hilarious.

3. Suite Life of Zack and Cody

Suite Life of Zack and Cody

The sitcom revolves around twin cousins Zack and Cody Martin (Dylan and Cole Sprouse) whose mother Carey (Kim Rhodes) works in Tipton hotel as the lounge singer. London Tipton is the daughter of the hotel’s owner Wilfred Tipton who owns a personal suite in the hotel with a huge fashionable wardrobe but is dim-witted or let’s just say dumb! Ashley Tisdale played the candy counter Maddie who is from a lower class family but she is extremely hardworking and very intelligent. This show used to be such a great fun to watch and was also one of the most popular Disney shows.

4. Duck Tales

Duck Tales

Among a list a teenage sitcoms I’m including Duck Tales because of all the wonderful childhood memories it gave me and many other people. This animated series had Uncle Scrooge as its main character who owned a fortune and used to literally ‘swim’ in his treasure of gold coins! Uncle Scrooge’s three grandnephews, Huey, Dewey, Louie were too cute and always up to some adventure. In many episodes of Duck Tales, the richest duck in town Uncle Scrooge had to protect his wealth from villains who want to rob him off all his fortune while in others he is in a constant trial to increase his wealth.

5. Wizards of Waverly Place

Wizards of Waverly Place

This was one of my favourites and I could never get tired of watching this supernatural fantasy. Starring Selena Gomez as Alex Russo, this series revolved around a wizard family where Alex is a clever and an outgoing teenage wizard (something that I secretly want to be!)  who likes to use her powers and her wand to get her way through everything. Alex’s elder brother Justin (David Henry) is a sincere and an obedient child/wizard his parents love to have and her younger brother Max (Jake T. Austin) is naïve and an underachiever when it comes to wizard studies. Alex has a best friend Harper, played by Jennifer Stone, who has a crush on Justin but later on gets in a relationship with Justin’s best friend Zeke.

6. That’s So Raven

That’s So Raven

Personally, I always thought of That’s So Raven as a little stupid show but nevertheless I loved watching it! The show revolved around a psychic teenager Raven Baxter, played by Raven-Symone and her two best friends Eddie and Chelsea, portrayed by Orlando Brown and Anneliese. Raven gets a ‘vision’ about certain things which are yet to happen, sometimes this vision helps to avoid troubles and at other times it creates them! She designs her own clothes and is genius in disguising herself which goes well with her trouble making antics. Raven’s brother Cory Baxter (Kyle Massey) was also a fun part of the show who was too obsessed with money.

7. Phil Of the Future

Phil Of the Future

This Disney Series was a little out of the blue and out of the future as it starred a family that gets stick in 2004 when their time machine breaks down during a time travel vacation. However they are originally from 2121 but they have to adjust in the 21st century for a while. The main character Phil Diffy played by Ricky Ullman is a regular teenager with a not so regular secret. He has a younger sister Pim, played by Amy Bruckner, who is a mischievous girl and always up to create some troubles. Outside the Diffy Family, Phil’s best friend and later on his girlfriend, Keely Teslow, played by Aly Michalka, also knows their secret while the family constantly tries to hide it from rest of the world. This series was a blend of teenage fun and a little science which made it quite popular among teenagers.

8. Sonny with a Chance

Sonny with a Chance

The show starring singer and actress Demi Lovato featured her as “Sonny”, a Midwestern girl whose life takes a huge turn overnight when she gets selected for the cast of her favourite show So Random!  While Sonny tries to fit in the life of limelight she also manages to make some pretty good friends among other cast members of her teen show where Tawni Hart, portrayed by Tiffany Thornton becomes her best friend. Sonny also shares a love-hate relationship with the teen heartthrob Chad Dylan Cooper, portrayed by Sterling Knight, who is the star of a rival show of So Random! . Sonny with a Chance was one of the three Disney Channel Original Series that contained show in a show – So Random! And Mackenzie Falls.

9. Cory in the House

Cory in the House

Cory in the House was a spinoff of the popular Disney show That’s So Raven starring Raven’s younger brother Cory Baxter, played by Kyle Massay as the protagonist of the series. Since Cory is too obsessed with money he wears underwear with dollar signs which would get revealed when Cory’s pants would fall down leaving everyone laughing! Cory has a crush on his best friend Meena Paroom (Maiara Walsh) and is also best friends with Newt Livingston (Jason Dolley). The series was an amazing entertainment and was brilliant in cracking up its audience with madness and humour.

10. Life with Derek

Life with Derek

If you have an annoying elder brother then you could totally relate to this show. Life with Derek was a teenage comedy featuring Michael Seater as Derek Venturi who plays guitar in his band D-Rock and loves to play pranks on everyone around especially his siblings. Cassey Mcdonald (Ashley Leggat) is his half sister and academically ambitious and a genius girl. She often gets into clashes with Derek due to their conflicting personalities often creating light humor for the audience.
