Edward Snowden aka tops my list of the most influential person because there are many reasons for him to be there. Given the pen name “ The Whistle Blower” Edward has brought many things under limelight which the people of the world were unaware of. Currently having an asylum in Russia Snowden came into world media when he leaked 20000 reports and information about the NSA spying over the private information of people around the world. According to Snowden, the only reason for leaking the documents was “to inform the public as to that which is done in their name and that which is done against them.”

Snowden is termed as a fugitive by the American authorities who have charged him with espionage and theft of government property.

Edward Snowden was given the biennial German “whistleblower prize” in August 2013, in absentia, with money award equaling to 3,000 euro

A thriller about Edward Snowden’s life, Classified: The Edward Snowden Story, is scheduled for release on 19 September 2014.

The steps taken by Snowden are brave and Bold and it takes real courage from a person to go against his own country. I personally feel what Snowden has done is right because spying privacy is very unethical act and hence he is my hero and tops my list of the most influential persons in the world.

 

2. Malala Yousufzai:

Known for her activism for rights to education and for women, especially in the Swat Valley, where the Taliban had at times banned girls from attending school Malala Yousufzai is an education activist from Mingora a town is Swat District of Pakistan. On October 9th She was shot in her head and neck by Taliban in an attempt to assassinate her after which she was sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in England for an intensive rehabilitation. The event of Assassination sprouted national and international support for Malala. She was featured in the front cover of Times magazine April 2013 issues. She has also won the Pakistan’s first National Youth Peace Prize and was nominated for 2013 Nobel Peace prize also. In October 2013 Little Brown and company released her memoirs I am Malala co written by British Journalist Christina Lamb.

 

3. Sachin Tendulkar:

Even a 5-6 year toddler in India will be familiar with this name. With his last 200th Test Match against West Indies “The God Of Cricket” finally retired from the sport. Sachin has set almost every record that any Batsman in Cricket can dream of. Almost any Batsman is the world is directly or indirectly influenced by Sachin. He has created a Wikipedia of Records which cannot be mentioned in a limited space. In April 2012, Tendulkar accepted the Rajya Sabha nomination put forward by the president of India and became the first active sportsperson and cricketer to have been nominated. Recently after his retirement from professional cricket he has been nominated for The Bharat Ratna which is the Highest Civilian award in India making him the youngest person and the first ever sportsperson to achieve it.

Often quoted as the strongest person in the world Barack Hussain Obama is really a man of steel. He is the leader of the worlds most powerful nation and has taken that responsibility very cautiously. Obama remains the commander in chief of the world’s greatest military and head of the only economic superpower leader of the free world. His signature legislation, Obamacare, is in trouble and his U.S. allies are angry about over NSA surveillance overseas and the government shutdown for 16 days in October has questioned his integrity over the control.

Known for her Belly Rolls on stage and impeccable belly dancing Shakira ranks 5th in my list. Born in Barranquila, Colombia Shakira is really living her dreams. She has won numerous numbers of awards including Grammy’s Latin Grammy’s and has once been Golden Globe nominated. However she is not only musically talented, She can speak fluent Portuguese, Italian, English and Spanish. She is reported to have an IQ of 140 which makes her beauty with brains. Shakira promoted Child Education along with FIFA during the 2010 Africa World Cup to spread awareness about education amongst children worldwide. Currently she is in relationship with FC Barcelona Defender Gerrard Pique (who was also the part of the world cup winning Spanish team) whom she met at the World Cup. The couple has a baby who was born earlier this year on 22nd January whom they have named Milan. She also with her Pies Descalzos foundation carries out Philanthropic activities all around the world.

A chess prodigy too he is popularly known as Mozart of Chess in the Chess Arena. Carlsen also became the grandmaster at the age of 13 years and 148 days in 2004 making him the second youngest Grandmaster at that time. His recent win at the World Championship at Chennai has brought more popularity in the sport.
