There are various architectural marvels such as the tower which rises nearly a third of a mile into the sky, bomb resistant glass walls and cable-stayed bridges that stretch for long distances. Several years after the Egyptians built the Great Pyramid of Khufu, engineers and architects have been creating new wonders of the world. 1. Chinese Central Television Building

The Chinese Central Television Building serves as the new headquarters of China Central Television (CCTV) and is one of the first of a series of buildings to be built in the city’s CBD. The building is designed by Ole Scheeren and Rem Koolhaas. It has 54 floors and is majestic at 234 metres in height.

 

2. Taipei-101
Taipei-101

Located in Taipei, Taiwan, Taipei 101 is a 101 floor landmark. It stands tall at 1670 ft. height and brightens the Taipei skyline with its fantastic design. Designed by C.Y Lee & Partners and built by KTRT Joint Venture, it is officially the world’s tallest in terms of highest roof and highest occupied floor.

 

3. Beijing International Airport

Designed by Foster & Partners, it helps passengers to differentiate between various sections of the vast area. Skylights of different colors serve as an innovative navigational aid. 4. The Burj Al-Arab

This is another tallest building which is used exclusively as a hotel. It is second tallest building in the earth at 321 m (1,050 ft). This superb landmark is shaped like the billowing sail of a boat and adorns Dubai’s urban landscape.

 

5. The Burj Dubai
The Burj Dubai

The Burj Dubai is the world’s tallest man made structure at 818 m (2,684 ft). It surpassed the CN Tower in Canada in September this year to become the world’s tallest free-standing building.

 

6. Dongtan Eco City, China
Dongtan Eco City

This Eco City in China is designed by Arup and is planned to be a zero greenhouse, eco-friendly transit point having full self-sufficiency in water and energy. It provides newer solutions for environmental sustainability and has a positive outlook despite receiving mixed reactions from people.

 

7. The Freedom Tower
The Freedom Tower

The Freedom tower is one of the most unique of the new buildings in the World Trade Center site. It incorporates the highest standards of safety, engineering, design and building technology, this tower is bound to re-establish New York City as the epi-centre of high-rise skyscraper design. It will have a height of 1,776ft.

 

8. National Grand Theater, Beijing
National Grand Theater

This is an opera house in Beijing, China also called the Egg. It poses a contrast to the ancient Chinese architecture and is situated near the Great Hall of the People and the Forbidden City. The U.S.-based Journal Business Week has listed it as one of the top 10 architectural marvels because of environmentally friendly and energy saving design.

 

9. Shanghai Finance Center

Having a height of 492 meters (1,614 ft), this building became the tallest structure on the Chinese mainland. It is also the second tallest skyscraper in the world.

 

10. Linked Hybrid, Beijing
Linked Hybrid

Linked Hybrid, covers 1.6 million square feet and will house 2,500 people in 700 apartments. It will be a standing example for large-scale sustainable residential architecture. The site will have a unique and largest geothermal heating and cooling systems, which will help to stabilize the temperature within the complex.
