Top 10 Things You Need To Stop Doing on Facebook

1 2

Are you getting tired of Facebook and the insecure and childish behavior friends exhibit on it? Facebook is the most popular social media site with over 425 million active users. And with great popularity comes some very shameful and disturbing behavior and people who look to tap into Facebook’s viral market to sell you their crappy selves or scheme your money through affiliate links and the like.

So if you happen to find yourself doing any of these top 10 irritating things on Facebook, you should look to stop doing so immediately before all of your friends look to jump ship and get rid of you. If you are losing friends on Facebook like sunflower seeds, you really need to find another approach to social media management.

1. Tagging Random People in Photos

TaggingYou should quit tagging people you barely know in photos that have nothing to do with you or met at a party. It’s one thing when your buddy tags you in an unphotogenic pic, then sends it out to friends for them to laugh at. At least in this situation it’s you and your friends with the person who tagged you. But the people I’m talking about upload photos and tag as many people as they can to try and gin up as many likes as possible. This is a classic move by spammers so be cautious of anyone tries strategy out. I’ve had to call out several individuals over the years, even friends for their random tagging, and you should do the same if you suspect anyone doing this. Sending a personal message to them to stop could do the trick, but I feel like if some goofball wants to tag me in every one of his posts, he must be looking for my input so I give it to him publicly right then and there. Revenge is just a dish that is best served cold…

Worst of all… they know how picky you are about your pics and that you like to approve them before they hit the WWW. BUT, if they look good, they don’t give a flying monkey what you think They will post them and tag you anyways! Who cares if you look like a loser or cock eyed. It’s all about them! Cause they look like god!

2. Cross-Posting with Twitter

Cross-Posting From TwitterLook, we social media marketing experts understand that you are a little short on content and intelligent things to say on Facebook, but there is no need to post random stuff that no one cares about. We all post the same stuff on Twitter, Facebook, Google+, but at least have the guts to not automatically send your Twitter tweets to Facebook, because people will just mute you, dislike you, or defriend you. For one, you’ll get much less engagement posting to Facebook via any third-party app let alone Twitter which basically disregards Facebook etiquette. If you do this, it’s a clear sign you’re not really engaging with anyone on Facebook or are just too lazy to post new content manually, either way you will fail and friends and followers will keep disappearing.

3. Liking Your Own Posts

Like postsSo you’ve just posted the new dog or the cutest baby pictures of your best friend. That’s cool, right? But then you go ahead and like your photo yourself. Well, we know you already like the post, aren’t you the one who just shared the thing? Besides being annoyingly repetitive, the real reason people feel the need to do this is that the action of liking the post will again show up in the streaming news ticker, giving the post even more exposure, sometimes double as much. These are typically the moves of self-proclaimed “social media gurus” or people who just feel insecure about their status posts. It’s obvious that you like your own content, you posted it yourself.

4. New Page Invites

Suggest pageLook, as social media marketing experts, we understand you need to create a page for your business, but do everyone else a favor and stop inviting them to your half-ass Facebook pages. Instead post interesting content to your own page, share it on your profile as well (so your friends see it), and if people are interested they will follow. There is also the new social graph that will allow others to network, who are not on your friends’ list. It’s almost not your fault, as creating a page and inviting all your friends can seem tempting, but most of your friends won’t like your page and maybe they won’t like you either and defriend you. And the ones who do like it would’ve probably found it anyways without your begging them to do so. So like the funny Oatmeal comic, don’t do this…

5. Useless App Requests

App RequestsIf you’re on Facebook all day playing CafeWorld and Hotelville, that should be embarrassing enough, and the last thing you should ever want to do is invite your friends and alert them to your obsessions. And I can’t even explain to you the ill feeling we get when we receive a request to join Vampire World, for example, even though we’ve already registered to be  friends with some  less intelligent friends who do not have a life or do not work.

Rule of thumb: Step off with the application requests! Only send the ones that are absolutely necessary, the awesomeness you’ve ever seen, etc. We don’t care, at all, what shape cocktail glass we are, we don’t want a shot, we don’t want to compare our favorite ‘Hills’ characters. No, no, and no.

Top 10 Facebook Conspiracy Theories

1 2

Some people feel that every time they go on the Internet, their digital selves are being hijacked and driven to a shady data broker’s garage, where they get sliced, diced, and mined  and even sold for various purposes that are unknown to society. The people who feel like they’re getting info-jacked are starting to fight back by providing false-information security system.

Kevin Ludlow, a 33-year-old Texan software developer, calls this phenomena“Bayesian flooding” and as a data miner he wants to protect against is Facebook. The problem  with this is that once information has been collected, it will always be stored and associated with you and your name. He therefore argues that trying to hide information from Facebook may not work. A  possible solution would be to overwhelm the social media platform with too much information.”

This article examines the top 10 Facebook conspiracy theories that hit the roof recently and had many, many fans going crazy. You can never been to sure about Mark Zuckerberg and his intentions.

What is conspiracy theory?

A conspiracy theory explains an event as being the result of an alleged plot by a covert group or organization or, more broadly, the idea that important political, social or economic events are the products of secret plots that are largely unknown to the general public.

1.  Global Revolution

Global Revolutions

Many conspiracy theorists argue that Facebook and other social media websites conspired to birth the political uprisings in Egypt and Tunisia. After all, they argue that Facebook offered of a forum for acute sociability and democratic processes, which have given the youth of those countries a taste for democracy. The Occupy Movement in the U.S. holds a very similar philosophy. Except the part where they fight tanks.

2.  High Divorce Rates

Divorce Rates

In a study done on UK divorce proceedings, it was found that 20 percent of divorce suits filed mentioned Facebook as a contributing factor to marital unhappiness. Couples the world-over began to flock away from the site now painted as a direct road to infidelity. But what media channels failed to offer was that unhappy marriages just happened to be more prone to spending time apart, especially on Facebook. To this day, people are still frightened over the myth that Facebook itself causes divorces. But, the social media platform is still growing and becoming even more popular.

3. Mark Zuckerberg is reading your mail

Zuckerberg

The Next Web, amongst other sources, revealed that if you mention a Facebook page in your private messages the likes for that page will increase. Admittedly it sounds a little innocuous at first, but surely it means someone was going through your messages and looking at the content.

Facebook admitted that it has been scanning messages but that’s an honest mistake. Mark Zuckerberg does not give a crap about who you’re dating. The whole purpose was to create those cute little thumbnails that come up at the bottom and the increased likes are apparently a virus.

But who would trust Zuckerberg…would you?

4. Facebook uses your photos for advertisement

Facebook paid advertising

When Facebook updated its terms of service back in 2009 many started question whether users really own their content once it’s uploaded to the site or whether it becomes fair game as soon as it hits the social network.

A Vancouver,  B.C woman filed a class action lawsuit against Facebook in2012 for profiting from an advertisement that used her photo and profile information without her consent.

Debbie Douez claimed that Facebook, Inc. allowed her name and photo to be used without her permission and acknowledgement for an advertisement that appeared on Facebook last year.

5. Facebook charges for accounts

Facebook charges

This has to be the most popular rumor. Despite myths, top 10 list believes that Facebook is not charging and never will. However thousands of users every day, and frequently many more, spread the myth that Facebook is about to start charging for the service. The price tends to differ each time the myth arises, yet people continue to fall for this myth over and over again. We will have to wait and see if this will happen. For now, Facebook is introducing new features, most recently the Graph Search and before that it was the messenger.

Top 10 Bizarre Things People Have Done In Their Sleep

1 2

When they hear about parasomnia or sleep-related disorders that lead to atypical actions, people instantly think about sleepwalking. Although sleepwalking or somnambulism, as it is dubbed in the medical terminology, is not perceived as normal, it is by far one of the least strange or potentially harmful behaviors. Think of it this way, while you are sleepwalking, the worst thing that could happen to you is stubbing your toe on the nearby furniture. The cases that we’re about to present in this article will reveal that there are more dangerous but sometimes hilarious activities related to parasomnias.

1. Extreme somniloquy, the graphic depiction of one’s dream

It is true that mild sleep disorders involving sleep muttering are not that uncommon and you have probably shared the bed with someone who talks in his sleep at least once. However, songwriter Dion McGregor, has taken somniloquy to a whole new level, as he became an actually prolific narrator of his own dreams every night back in the 60s. The level of coherency proprietary to McGregor’s vivid dream depictions was so high that his roommate decided to record one such sessions. Unfortunately, the graphic content of his dream’s description would be enough to make some adult movie directors blush!

2. Divorcing your spouse

Another case in which coherent somniloquy caused trouble was when a Muslim man began uttering the word “talaq” to his wife during his sleep. In Arabic, this is the word for divorce and the fact that he repeated it three times made the Court consider the separation official from the legal point of view.

3. Brutally killing your in-laws

When the jury found Ken Parks not guilty for the brutal slaughter of his in-laws while sleepwalking, many people were outraged. However hard to believe it may be that a person can get out of bed, drive to a person’s home, strangle and stab the residents and then drive to the police station to confess his crime – all before he wakes up –, the psychiatrists who investigated the case said that was exactly what happened. And Ken Parks is only one of the 68 homicidal somnambulism cases reported so far.

4. Eating junk food

The Night Eating Syndrome essentially implies that a person frequently eats hefty meals during the hours of the night. These meals typically comprise of junk food and other similarly unhealthy treats, but the difference between this syndrome and its sleep related version is that in the latter case, the person is not awake during the act. Cases in which NS-RED patients are caught consuming aliments and even sauces like mayonnaise directly from the container are pretty common.

5. Preparing a healthy meal

At the opposite pole, you have those people who are not as interested in eating the food as they are in preparing it. Truth be told, in spite of their best efforts, cooking while they are asleep is clumsy and the dishes are not exactly gourmet chef material, but records indicate that some sleepwalkers even utilized the stove or the microwave to boil water or heat up food.

Would you be laughing then? Here are just 10 celebrities, who had some weird moments on nationally televised interviews.

1. Whitney Houston on Primetime

Whitney Houston is the all time American diva. She became a star not long after being noticed by the legendary Clive Davis, and lost her stardom just as fast. Her troubles began when she met Bobby Brown. He was violent towards her, and introduced her to drugs. Her troubles became apparent to the public when she was interviewed by Diane Sawyer in 2002. She appeared high, and said the now infamous phrase, “crack is whack.” Houston denied any use of drugs at the time. 7 years later, Houston was interviewed by Oprah, and she admitted to her of using drugs and her doomed relationship with her ex husband, Brown, but claimed she was clean and sober as of then. However, Huston died on February 11, 2012 due to drug intoxication and drowning.

2. Tom Cruise on Oprah

Love makes you do crazy things, and Tom Cruise proved it on live television. It was 2005, when he just started dating his now wife, “Dawson’s Creek” alum, Katie Holmes. He was overly excited when he ws on Oprah, and jumped on her couch. But Holmes was not the only reason why he was so happy. At the time, Holmes was pregnant with her and Cruise’s first child, Suri, who was born in April 2006. Cruise has two older adopted children, Isabelle and Connor, from his previous marriage to Nicole Kidman.

3. Courtney Love on David Letterman

Courtney Love has always been known to be wild. She was the wife of troubled Nirvana lead singer, Kurt Cobain. Together, they had a daughter, Frances Bean Cobain in 1992, and Love admitted to using drugs during her pregnancy. In 2004, she appeared on David Letterman. In the middle of the interview, she randomly got up on the couch and flashed him. When she appeared on Letterman in 2010, Love admitted that her life was filled with drugs and cocaine. As of late 2009, Frances Cobain has been living with her paternal grandmother, and has no contact with Love. Frances stated that Love was a bad mother to her.

4. Joaquin Phoenix on David Letterman

Courtney Love wasn’t the only victim of humiliation on Letterman. When Phoenix appeared on the show in 2008, his appearance was different than usual. His hair was a mess and his beard when down to his knees. He also had sunglasses on. Phoenix was slow at answering questions, seemed to be either drunk or high, and David Letterman could not do anything but laugh. Phoenix was mocked by Ben Stiller at the 2009 Oscars ceremony when he and Natalie Portman presented an award. When Joaquin Phoenix came back to “The Tonight Show”, he apologized to letterman for his bizarre behavior.

5. Jon Voight on Access Hollywood

Jon Voight and Angelina Jolie never had a close bond. During her childhood, Voight was constantly away from home. Jolie stated that she only saw her father when they worked together. Their most notable collaboration was when they co-starred in the 2001 hit film “Tomb Raider”. In a 2002 televised interview, Voight tearfully begged Jolie to get professional help for her mental problems. Jolie cut ties with her father since then. It wasn’t until her mother died in 2007 that she had a change of heart.

Top 10 Bizarre Reasons to Call in Sick

1 2

Many times when employees call in sick, they actually are not. There are other underlying reasons which prevent employees from going to work. This article examines just 10 reasons, using survey results compiled on the subject.

1. Morning Fun:

Many individuals pull what I call a Homer Simpson. They are lazy. They prefer fooling around in bed and not actually go to work.

2. Important Event:

Many get excited about important events in their life, including trips, concerts as well as unexpected parties. To prevent consistent requests for days off for various reasons, they call in sick.

3. Bad Mood:

Many people who are in bad moods never admit it to their bosses. They basically see it as a reason to stay home and relax and take a chill pill. Telling the boss this could be grounds for dismissal…so they use the common excuse “I am sick”.

4. Court:

Many employees get a number of sick days they could use per year. This only applies to the person if he/she is actually sick. They cannot use it for purposes like court appearance. The person, who revealed this as his answer, said his worst nightmare came true when he saw someone from his work in court as well. Lots of explaining to do!

5. Extended Vacation:

Many people only get certain days to take a vacation. If they go over their limit, the days off are deducted from their paychecks. To prevent losing money, employees call in sick, quoting “I contracted a flu while on vacation.” This excuse allows some to use up their sick days, which are paid for occasionally.

Top 10 Unfamiliar Phobias

1 2

A survey of 100 phobias was presented to different study groups. Surveying 100 people, here are phobias that were unfamiliar and thought of as rare.

1. Kainophobia:

Kainophobia is the fear of newness, novelty, change, innovations and unfamiliar things. The word is Greek and is broken down into two words: Kain (new) and Phobia (fear).

2. Barophobia:

Fear of gravity. Heredity and traumatic events cause this fear. People with this phobia will become anxious, will shake and sweat and have heart palpations.

3. Bibliophobia:

Fear of books. Although this phobia is uncommon, it makes an excellent setting for certain Halloween events.

4. Ergophobia:

Fear of work. The root word comes from Ergon (Work) and Phobia (Fear). People experience gratuitous anxiety about the workplace environment. They mostly fear that their work will not be done up to expectations.

5. Gynophobia:

There is such a thing. Many individuals, surveyed, questioned whether this was for real or not. My answer is that there could be a fear of women. Many believe that this is a drive to homosexuality. Others believe it is a similar case to Cosmo Kramer in Seinfeld. What do you think?

Top 10 Reasons To Delete And Not Use Facebook

1 2

Facebook is a social network used by 600 million cyborgs worldwide. Many cyborgs become addicted to this social networking site, spending hours on it. Although it serves to connect friends and family, many abuse the privileges for other purposes. They add strangers who can help them advance in their favorite game and they could add stars, who may or may not be the person they say they are. Here are the top 10 reasons cyborgs should delete and not to use Facebook.

1. Identity Theft:

Try searching for Barak Obama or Britney Spears and you will find not one, not two but infinite number of celebrities with the same pictures and with the same personal information. Identity theft is on the rise and we could see that just by searching celebrities. There is no stopping cyborgs from taking personal information from your wall and adding a fake account with your picture. As such, one should delete or not use Facebook if they do not want their information being copied and taken for granted.

2. It is not safe:

Although Facebook has tried to keep children under 13 off of Facebook, they have failed. Increasingly there are children under the age of 13 who utilize Facebook and create fake accounts which may or may not be noticeable by the Facebook crew. Secondly, Facebook says it believes in protecting the privacy of its users. In reality, everything one posts on Facebook is the property of Facebook. There is a high risk of personal information being sent to third parties for “research purposes”. If you don’t want your personal information being sent to third parties and for Facebook to have rights to your property, don’t use it and delete it.

3. Snooping:

On this social networking site, you have people snooping into your life, friends and non-friends. Co-workers who may know your friend or family member may see a picture of you smoking or drinking excessively. When you post or upload something to Facebook, it becomes public. No one posts for themselves. Your friend today may be your enemy tomorrow. For example, you may not be on the Google search engine, but the group you are part of is. Any pictures on the group may be seen and searched by everyone including your prospective employers. So do yourself a favour and do not use Facebook and delete it.

4. Cyber bullying is increasing:

I cannot count the numerous times cyber bullying has occurred on Facebook. If an account is hacked into, messages such as “I am gay” can pop up on the status, humiliating the user and sometimes shunning them amongst their friends. Worse is when a cyborg uses a photo of someone, edits it with the intent to make fun of a group or individual. There have been various incidents where an individual was tagged as a derogatory term in a group picture taken at a mutual event. It took Facebook 2 weeks to delete the picture and they still refused to take away the person’s privileges away after violating the terms and uses. There is nothing standing in the way of that individual from posting the photo and tagging it again. As Facebook is unsafe, one should also delete it and not use it.

5. Viruses:

Viruses are easily transmitted on Facebook. There have been times where a friend sends you a message with a link that has a viral effect on your computer. Other times, friends, whose account is hacked, is able to post on your wall telling you and your friends of an intriguing news report. If viruses are able to hit and multiply on Facebook, the site is not safe. If you want to eliminate the chances of viruses, do not add Facebook or delete it.
